...The labor participation rate continues to decline. This measure of people who are either employed or actively looking for work declined last month from 64.1% to 63.9%. Why? People are so discouraged that they have given up looking for work.
Please scroll to the bottom of the report to which I linked. We witness that the number of discouraged workers rose from 982,000 in June (822,ooo in May) to a whopping 1,119,000 last month.
We had an increase of 137,000 discouraged workers last month and 297,000 discouraged workers over the last two months. Juxtapose those figures next to the increase in the non-farm payroll of 117,000 workers last month.
No, we did not hit a triple with this report. In fact, when we incorporate the discouraged workers into our review my sense on cents indicates to me that our situation actually worsened.

Nobama no job.
Depression strikes fear in the hearts of Rinos and Dems alike: it means that big spending = big losers
Rush just said that 58% of the people are working. I see that as 43% unemployment.
If we could just get rid of these lazy, non working people like we are planning to do with all these old people, America would be in great shape.
Rush is a voice of caution for those who will listen. I think his best contribution over the years has been his steady beating of the message: “Think about what the media is saying.”
I actually remember when we trusted the evening news. We shouldn’t have been doing it even then, it now turns out, but we sure as hell shouldn’t be doing it now.
How long will it take for the figures to ‘reflect’ the FAA employees that are now going back to work? Layed off in July...back to work in Aug. Hummm
Should read:
We had a convenient increase of 137,000 discouraged workers last month which allowed us to make it look like we actually have a slight improvement in the unemployment numbers. That should be good enough to fool the majority of the sheeple.
I was reading Huntsman’s statement the other day that “it is absolutely unacceptable for any of us to live with the idea that it is OK to hand down the greatest nation that ever was to the next generation in the kind of condition it is today.”
But this country is so far down the hole, how is it even avoidable ? For most jobless the loss of earning power is permanent. Even after 20 years, they don’t recover to their prior income levels. Where do we even begin to break out of this quagmire and put our faith in something real?
