MEDIA: HALLIBURTON PAID DICK CHENEY TO COMMIT RAPE IN IRAN
August 3, 2011A front-page story by James Risen in The New York Times on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, reported on a "troubling trend" of sexual assaults committed by American employees of military contractors in Iraq. The centerpiece of his story was Jamie Leigh Jones, who claimed to have been brutally gang-raped in 2005 while working in the Green Zone.
(Risen also interviewed other women claiming to have been sexually assaulted in Iraq and -- for journalistic balance -- their attorneys.)
Jones famously claimed that days after arriving in Iraq with KBR, then a subsidiary of Halliburton, she had been drugged and gang-raped by fellow employees and then held at machine-gunpoint in a tiny shipping container by KBR managers, with no food or water for 24 hours, as retaliation for reporting the rape.
You may have heard about Jones' sensational allegations - invariably reported as fact -- on ABC's "20/20"; CNN; CBS News' "The Early Show," MSNBC, National Public Radio, in every major U.S. newspaper and international media.
All she had to do was mention the words "rape" and "Halliburton," and the automatons went wild!
Jones told her tale before congressional committees, on numerous TV shows -- and in a book she is actually writing, titled: "The Jamie Leigh Story: How My Rape in Iraq and Cover-up Made Me a Crusader for Justice." (Scheduled for release the third Tuesday after never.)
Then-senator Barack Obama demanded a State Department investigation into Jones' claims.
But no one jumped on Jones' story with more self-righteousness than Sen. Al Franken. He used her story to jam through a grandstandy "anti-rape" amendment to an appropriations bill prohibiting defense contractors from including mandatory arbitration clauses in employment contracts, thus depriving mountebank trial lawyers like John Edwards from collecting massive damages awards from illiterate jurors.
Just a few years after humiliating themselves over the Duke lacrosse case, it's nice to see the media weren't the least bit hesitant about leaping on another ludicrous rape claim.
Perhaps liberals were slipped Rohypnol, and that's why they can't remember that not every woman claiming she was raped is always telling the truth.

Her claim that KBR management had held her at gunpoint in a shipping container vanished when it turned out she had only remembered that part of the story two years after it supposedly happened (coincidentally, just as the media frenzy began).Ann Coulter NYT2
Perhaps the Rohypnol made her forget something else: KBR employees, including security guards, don't even carry guns, much less machine guns.
Come on, Ann - please check your copy before posting stuff. Headline check - what the heck does Iran have to do with the case she is discussing, which is about contractors in Iraq....????
Hello.
? I guess it’s supposed to be Iraq, not Iran
Ann Coulter makes the point that the media were on this story like fleas on a dog because it involved KBR, a subsidiary of Halliburton. A corporation with a past connection to former V.P. Cheney, making them (and any subsidiary) a target of the leftmedia. The woman eventually was proven to have made the whole thing up and no criminal charges were ever brought against anyone. Those facts were basically ignored and the ‘story’ abandoned by the MSM. Same old, same old but kudos to Ann for at least allowing the whole sordid mess to see the light of day, even if only for a moment.
Why is Ann pushing this story without leading that a jury said her claims were bogus?
“The trial began in the Southern District of Texas on June 14, 2011.[21] Jones’s attorney argued that KBR had known about widespread sexual harassment but had ignored it because the remedy was too expensive. The defense argued that Jones fabricated her story of being drugged and raped because she was embarrassed about the consensual sex and wanted to get out of her year-long contract with KBR three days after she arrived.[6][22]
Jones’s first attending physician testified that Jones had not suffered damage to her breast implants or chest during the alleged attack. The prosecution also brought out that on two prior occasions Jones had reported being raped and that she had taken medication for anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder.[23]
On July 8, the jury returned a verdict that rejected all of Jones claims, finding that the sex between Jones and the employee was consensual[4][6] (and therefore no rape had occurred),[7][8][9] and that KBR did not defraud her.[6][5][7]
Jones said, “I just thought that the physical evidence would help. I guess the fact that my entire life was on display and (his) wasnt” made a difference.[24]
Bolen, a KBR spokeswoman, said, “The outcome of this jury trial as judged by her peers is the same result that the State Department got in 2005; that the Justice Department found in 2008. We are deeply gratified that the justice system has worked.” (Wiki)
Well on her keyboard the Q is right next to the N...
Ann has a nutty emotional side for sure. She was touting how good of a job the republicans did in this new debt mess. They should have went directly to the people show on a graph the massive debt and how just stopping the automatic increases yearly, of spending would have solved the problem. Instead they made a deal with the devil. We will have a lot of pain no mater what is done now...so they may as well have done it! Trump is right...it was a horrible deal.
Nothing excites the masses like charts and graphs. Perhaps the GOP could have had Ross Perot make the presentation?
She's the archetypicle polemicist
What? She’s telling a story. Why would she put the end of the story at the top ?
Because the first of the story seems to infer that the story is credible. In Houston, she didn’t get by with her money grab.
I have no idea how you created and posted that, but it was well done. Any tips for wannabe satirists?
What exactly is that?
That was done ages ago by a long time Freeper named Bender...he had quite a few of them and I shamelessly copied them all....
It does no such thing. Its the standard way anyone would set up the story. no one would undercut their own piece by putting the end at the top of the story. And it has nothing to do with Houston.
Archetype definition, the original pattern or model from which all things of the same kind are copied or on which they are based
