IAF Generals 'Loudly' Demanding Strike on Iran – Report
Arutz Sheva ^ | 3/8/11 | Gil Ronen

The commanders of the IDF, especially those in the Air Force, are making "increasingly loud" demands to strike Iran's nuclear program, a German news source reported Wednesday.

According to Der Spiegel, the question of how Israel will eventually deal with the threat of a nuclear Iran depends in part on a battle of prestige between the military and the Mossad – the latter being in charge of assassinations, and favoring them as a result. Mossad is behind the killings of three Iranian scientists in the last 18 months, the paper claimed.

A fourth scientist was wounded and subsequently appointed to head Iran's nuclear commission.

According to "sources in Israeli intelligence," the targeted assassinations are part of a campaign to sabotage or slow down Iran's nuclear program. The alleged campaign also involves the Stuxnet computer virus.

"But for hardliners in the Israeli military, the covert action does not go far enough," wrote Spiegel's Ulrike Putz. "The calls for bombing Iran are getting louder and louder, especially among Israeli Air Force officers." She added:

"Until now, Mossad experts have been able to convince decision-makers that the construction of an Iranian bomb can best be delayed through attacks on key figures and nuclear facilities. But it is unclear how long Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will continue to follow this advice. Politicians in Jerusalem know well that Mossad is also pursuing its own interests when it argues that its agents should play the leading role in the struggle against Iran."

"As long as Mossad is leading the fight against the bomb, it will get the big budgets," the source told the newspaper. And the question of whether Israel will attack Iran's nuclear facilities will partly depend on the internal power struggle between the IDF and Mossad.

You’re welcome, but I was in the IAF!

Does it mean that the US has an ideological army that stages coups and decides which regime to support?

Thanks for your past and continued service. And out of curiosity what is your favorite fighter? Not a pilot and couldn’t even fly my M-I-L’s broom.

“favorite fighter”

Just depends on the job to be done, really.

For air-to-ground, my favorite was the Sufa, which is the two seat verions of the F-16I, simply because the targeting and avionics are better than anything that exists anywhere.

Not a problem. You and your colleagues are still a hero to many on this side of the pond.

For anyone who knows history, the joooos were there well before the “palestinians” were invented.

Everyday, archeology produces more and more information demonstrating the joooos were there over 5000 years before the “palestinians” , and over 4000 years before the ignorant sandmen found the curse of man, Mohammed (Satans messenger).

The argument of serves them right? The jews occupied much of the sand prior to Satans messenger, not just modern day Israel.

I don't think so.

I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic...

There is nothing ideological in that.

A much more cold blooded approach is likely the best. To create a “nuclear accident” in Iran that makes nuclear anything anathema.

This would create an accident that would cause extensive loss of life, as well as casualties, and be blamed on the Iranian nuclear program by the Iranian people.

It would require a specially built truck, and a bomb planted at an Iranian nuclear facility upwind of a population center, as well as a follow up propaganda campaign.

The truck would park downwind of the nuclear facility, but upwind of the city. Then it would silently start generating a large volume of a selected list of nuclear isotopes, in an aerosol form. Isotopes that would cause terrible skin burns, as well as lethal radiation poisoning.

Then, after the truck had finished, it would quietly drive away to be dumped at sea, and the bomb would be set off at the nuclear facility, with the added bonus of destroying it. Then a propaganda campaign would expose the accident to the Iranian people.

Several thousand Iranians would be horribly burned and die, but it would prevent further development of nuclear weapons, as well as putting their government in jeopardy. All told, perhaps saving millions of lives.

During the next Iranian uprising, the Mossad (or the IAF) needs to snuff out Khamanei along with his prison bitch, Ahmednutjob.

But the anti-nuclear crowd would have a *field day* and seek to shut down Dimona as well as any US reactors necessary for producing plutonium / tritium.

I'd just use a Trident or a land-based ICBM (dial-a-yield set to max) to show them up close and personal *WHY* they don't want to tangle with us.

Remember, the US is the only power that has ever willingly, deliberately, nuked civilians; and we firebombed both Germany and Japan, too. Not that I'm particularly glad of that: but if the camel-humpers want to thump their chests, they should remember that we've "been there; done that; got the T-shirt" before most of them were even born.

And the result? Germany and Japan now make our automobiles...

But if you're squeamish, let's aim at their sole refinery first; or else some important military installation exclusive of a population center.

Cheers!

It doesn’t say “I will interpret the constitution and decide if it’s being followed and if not stage a coup,” though. Interpreting is the judiciary’s job. The military is at the beck and call of the executive, who is checked and balanced by the judiciary and legislative. If the executive branch wants to implement socialism, it’s up to the other two branches of government to stop him, and if he fails to listen to them, they order the military to carry out their previously determined impeachment, and remove him from office. Thus, the military cannot intervene unless directed to in a manner consistent with the constitution.

Yes, but the MSM-watching public has been brainwashed until politicians and media types can say that without fear of contradiction.

“Send not to know for whom the bell tolls.
It tolls for Joooos! So it’s no big deal.”

It’s not “nice”. It is evil. A “nice” plan should have been done years ago, a satellite TV channel to show the Iranians the horror of nuclear war.

This is because the typical “Iranian on the street” has no idea of what nuclear weapons can do, because for them it is a cross between just “a big bomb”, and Aladdin’s lamp, giving them everything they want right now and at little cost.

A nuclear bomb will make everyone respect them. It will make Iran powerful. It will defend them against foreign enemies. It will make them the dominant regional power. It will drive the US out of the middle east and give Iran hegemony. It will make the Shiite dominant in Islam, perhaps unifying the “Shiite crescent”, and even giving them control over Mecca. It will allow them to destroy their hated enemies.

Just like Aladdin’s lamp. And they see no downside to this. No retribution or costs.

And their leaders thrive on this popular ignorance, perhaps in the hope that either having nuclear weapons, or using nuclear weapons, will beckon the return of the 12th Imam.

Only reality can penetrate the haze of fantasy. Nuclear war will kill millions. Conventional war tens or hundreds of thousands. A horrible nuclear accident, “only” tens of thousands.

It is still evil. But it might save vast numbers of innocent lives, that would otherwise be forfeit.

I’m inclined to nuke Iran.

Should have been done a few years ago. Ground penetrating nukes are the only way to terminate Iran's nuclear ambitions. Also nukes that would bury entrances to underground facilities. But then if I'm Iran my response is to pay billions to Pakistan or another party for a nuke to smuggle into and detonate in Tel Aviv

Use Iraqi military to seize the oilfields, easy with US air cover.

Then there will be no money for Iran to pay Pakis.

The Iraqi military is Shiite but maybe that would work. Even if all Iranian oil is shut off the Iranians must have some gold they could sell Pakistan or North Korea for a nuke to clandestinely detonate in Tel Aviv.

Thanks for knocking down that straw man. The oath doesn’t say to intrepret the constitution. It says to support and defend the constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. No interpreters, no philosophers needed. When someone attacks you, you don’t need a philosopher to tell you someone is attacking you.

“The oath doesn’t say to intrepret the constitution. It says to support and defend the constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. No interpreters, no philosophers needed. When someone attacks you, you don’t need a philosopher to tell you someone is attacking you.”

So then, I don’t understand what you are calling for when you said this:

“Wow, imagine that. I wish our military would grow a pair and make some demands of its own... namely, that the Left’s push toward transforming the country into a socialist dictatorship where the Constitution is utterly meaningless had better stop.”

The Constitution does not give the military a role in stopping “the Left’s push toward transforming the country into a socialist dictatorship...” except to forcibly remove a president who has been impeached and refuses to go, or refuse to surrender to an attempted coup d’etat or invasion. All other action along that line (stopping the Left’s push) is with the legislative and/or judicial branches, and/or the states.

What specifically do you want the military to do?
