“The oath doesn’t say to intrepret the constitution. It says to support and defend the constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. No interpreters, no philosophers needed. When someone attacks you, you don’t need a philosopher to tell you someone is attacking you.”

So then, I don’t understand what you are calling for when you said this:

“Wow, imagine that. I wish our military would grow a pair and make some demands of its own... namely, that the Left’s push toward transforming the country into a socialist dictatorship where the Constitution is utterly meaningless had better stop.”

The Constitution does not give the military a role in stopping “the Left’s push toward transforming the country into a socialist dictatorship...” except to forcibly remove a president who has been impeached and refuses to go, or refuse to surrender to an attempted coup d’etat or invasion. All other action along that line (stopping the Left’s push) is with the legislative and/or judicial branches, and/or the states.

What specifically do you want the military to do?

A strike on Iran - I don’t think the average American has even contemplated how much worse everyday life is going to be here once that happens.

--------------------------------------------------------

And how much the whole world will be if we DO and how much worse everyday life will be worldwide if Iran develops and deploys nuclear weapons Obama has gone out of his way to allow by dragging his heels and preventing Israel OR the WEST from helping everyone out.

The only positive result of the MOssad assassinations is Iran will now release the remaining two hikes they hold.

Sorry to sound heartless but compared to what a nuclear Islamic Iran will unleash, freeing a couple of hikers does not even enter the comparison.

Even an estimated collateral loss of some 20,000 civilian or noncombatants that might get killed in the attacks is still a drop in the ocean compared to the deaths a nuclear Iran will engender directly or through the arms race among Arab nations and terrorists using nuclear weapons, even if only dirty bombs.

Under Oba-Hussein it does! He cares nothing about the Constitution and openly by-passes it with his Administration of radical, not always legal nutcases and czars.

They have built many of their nuclear sites UNDER cities or highly populated neighborhoods, with that deterent in mind.

We are too gentle to attack and remove the threat, even if it will result in MILLIONS killed later.

Good point except it requires landing troops in southern Iran (Khuzestan) and we are war-shy these days. Plus some nuke sites would pollute the oil fields anyway.

Do you mean IraQI or Iranian military is Shiite? Iran’s military is Shia. Some of Iraq’s is also but lots of Sunni mixed in.

The constitution doesn’t give them a role. Their oath gives them a role. I want them to do the same thing the IDF did: Make demands of the leadership.

That’s what the IDF did and it’s not causing people to wring their hands. The IDF is charged with defending Israel and it cannot do that if Iran gets nukes. It has every right to make demands in that regard. There was no threat of a coup, and there needn’t be one here either.

The military is charged with defending the constitution and should make clear that it therefore cannot stand by while Obama shreds that document, and it should demand that he stop.

Or what? No or what. Just demand that he stop.

A number of US presidents have butted heads with the military and every one of them has lost that contest. Those were extra-constitutional encounters with the military. Where are the brass bells it used to have? They’ve been acting like eunuchs since DADT.

If I were a member of the Joint Chiefs, I damned sure would be voicing my concern to the others.

MacArthur lost to Truman. Just sayin’.

Otherwise, now I know what you mean.

Sorry, but I can’t agree with that. The answer to bypassing and disregarding the constitution is not going even further. The military is not the Praetorian Guard, and Obozo is most definitely not Julius Caesar, and that coup did not keep Rome a Republic, either. I’m more in line with LibWhacker. Whatever Obongo does to the constitution can be repaired when he leaves, and that day can be hastened by four years with a loud, extra-constitutional protest from the military.

"Until now, Mossad experts have been able to convince decision-makers that the construction of an Iranian bomb can best be delayed through attacks on key figures and nuclear facilities. But it is unclear how long Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will continue to follow this advice.

And, the above is being publicized, for what purpose?! LOL, not even the Iranian regime is that stupid!
