” Its not a 100% pure genuine victory. We just handed the most liberal president, I believe, in U.S. history a $2.4 billion debt increase. “
It is a 100% pure E P I C F A I L
Oh, good grief. Are people that damned dense?
yes, without the tea party it would be bleaker
but i wonder what the future holds.
It’s a thousand times worse. 2.4 trillion.
Well I don't think I would classify shifting a conversation as a victory but in that respect she is right, the debt would have never been an issue if not for the TP.
We still have much work to do, don't think we have enough time though.
Bachmann voted against the Debt Ceiling, Palin sees it as a positive. How the Republican electorate ends up viewing the deal will determine which will carry the consevative wing.
"I got a new credit card today... naw,naw,naw,naw...
now I'm going shopping..."
This is as much of a victory we can hope for in 2011. The GOP controls one half of one branch of government. Now, in 2012 and 2013 on the other hand, we can hope for much more.
It’s only a victory in that (imho) Obama and the Democrats set an artificial deadline to create a crisis so they would have an excuse to raise taxes.
The fact that the conversation was all focused on cutting spending was a victory for the tea party, a small one, but still a victory.
OTOH, the actual deal is still awful. It just raised the debt ceiling, officially added another 7 trillion dollars to the debt, and gave Obama a blank check to play with until after the election. Hardly a victory in that sense.
In this case, Palin is wrong.
Cannot believe Palin said that. Sad.
it’s MRS. assholes
I did not see the interview live so I just went back and watched it on Youtube. She did say that but taken alone it sounds bad. If you go and watch the whole interview you will see she thinks it’s a bad deal just as we do and only thinks the tea party was a winner because they changed the whole debate. Nice try though.
Yes, the “Tea Party” got their defense cuts.... Hooray!!
Palin was correct. This is a big victory for the Tea Party. Spending cuts with no tax increases. Cuts to the Democrat’s favorite socialist programs like Medicare.
It’s a huge political victory for conservatives too. Obama’s approval rating has plunged, and is now lower than at any time during his presidency.
Now we just elect a Tea Party president and Senate next year, then finish the job with the rest of the spending cuts.
We won the issue
The deal is a bad deal all around

If you believe the headlines in the mainstream media these past few weeks, you have to believe the country is on the verge of collapse.
Not only will default on the nation’s debt wreck the economy, if it happens, but Washington’s political stalemate is an example of the complete dysfunction of the American political system, the pundits and reporters tell us.
According to this analysis, we are witnessing the breakdown of governance itself. The American political system is on the brink, and no one has wanted to wink.
It’s all so much nonsense. I’ve addressed the economic consequences of default before - or the lack thereof - but now let’s take a look at this so-called collapse of American democracy and political institutions.
No matter how the debt talks turn out (or have turned out), what we have witnessed is not the collapse of governance, but the first serious challenge to an entrenched establishment in decades. What we have witnessed is not the obstinance of ideologues, but the courage of the principled.
