McCotter calls for a truce between Republicans, Tea Party
The Hill, Washington DC ^ | 2011-07-30 | Peter Kasperowicz

Posted on 07/30/2011 5:50:53 PM PDT by rabscuttle385

Rep. Thaddeus McCotter (Mich.), a Republican presidential candidate, called Saturday morning for Republicans and the Tea Party to stop fighting and work together to help save the country, presumably from Democratic policies, although he was not specific.

"On the right, take note," McCotter said on the House floor. "It is as unwarranted and injurious for a Republican to call a Tea Partier a hobbit as it is for a Tea Partier to call a Republican a RINO."

McCotter was referring to a comment earlier this month from Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who compared Tea Partiers to hobbits. That sparked rebukes from Tea Party sympathizers, including from Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and other Tea Party favorites. The derisive term "RINO" is an acronym for "Republican in name only."

Paul was quoted in the press saying he'd rather be a hobbit than a troll because "the hobbits were heroes" in J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings series.

"We cannot unite America if we divide the movement," McCotter warned. "Consequently, the time has come for the Tea party to grow up and the Republican Party to wake up and come together to serve and save this great nation."

Yep we need to quit beating around the bush with this RINO stuff and call them by their real name, Traitor.

McCotter is an enigma to me. He’s got some proving to do.

McCotter is admonishing McCain. McCotter is one of the good guys.

Pardon me, but he doesn't sound like he's addressing McCain with this disgusting little broadside:

"McCotter warned. "Consequently, the time has come for the Tea party to grow up..."

Once again, only the first half of that sentence is being quoted.

I give up on pointing that out again. Someone else can, next time... “D

PS: Find out more about McCotter. He’s a very interesting person, and just about hilariously funny - in a mojave dry sort of way which is just funny as all get out.

He’s on Red Eye sometimes, and just a riot.

Didn't see anything on the pages that I looked at about him running for president. I didn't bother to click on the ample supply of videos - I really have little interest in watching a politician beating his gums.

Don't see him on the FEC page, either. http://www.fec.gov/disclosurep/pnational.do

I will concede at this point he is a real politician riding the fence.

Check fire,check fire.

I'm sorry, but if the quote below is accurate, McCotter is just shilling for the establishment:

"Consequently, the time has come for the Tea party to grow up..."

"Grow up"? You mean, as in shedding ones childish illusions? Like the restoration of our constitutional republic? That kind of illusion?

No thanks, Thad.

No sorry, not Rush. I've only had one wife and I seem to be a few million dollars short. But, I will take your complement as intended; so I say thank you from every square inch of my gloriously naked body. - although I'm dressed at this moment, but I am gloriously naked underneath.

Nothing wrong with someone to get in the middle and try to calm both sides now, either.

When your cause is just, as ours is, anyone who attempts to calm you down is aiding and abetting evil.

I don't know about you, but I know when someone has just slapped me in the face. Whatever his intentions were, he just blew it by insulting the largest political insurgency in living memory.

And for the record, I don't care how funny he is on late night comedy shows. I hear that Bill Maher is funny too.

McCotter, you’re great. Get rid of Debbie Stabenow. Then run for president. If you can’t knock off Stabenow, you can’t get elected president.

Thank you, Davey.

You wouldn’t think that a call to stand down as blatant as that, would be so hard for some folks to see.

What Thad McCotter said, in so many words, is that we Tea Partiers need to realize that our goal of restoring this nation to its traditional moorings is cute, but delusional, and that we should wise up and come over to the establishment side.

It’s pretty obvious to me that this man has already sold out, and that he doesn’t have the foggiest clue about what’s really happening in the hearts and minds of true Americans.

I dont think the quote was accurate.

If that's so, McCotter had better be all over email, Facebook, and Twitter, correcting the record as we speak.

Have you seen anything from him yet?

He slapped McLame up side the head. He specifically named him in the example he gave.

McLame is McStewing about now. The treasonous, backstabbing Rino.
