FREEDOM, Calif--
Thousands of people on the Central Coast are fearing the worst. Social Security offices are being flooded with phone calls about the crisis and one woman is being asked to pay her bills early, before her checks stop coming.
Sarah Franklin lives in Freedom and on Friday morning she got a call from the manager at the apartment complex she lives at, asking for rent early. She said they're afraid she won't have money to pay it next week if she doesn't get her social security check.
"It's just really scary," she said. "I feel like such a baby for crying but the thing is, I'm not by myself, there's other people."
Franklin lives in the Pajaro Vista Apartments, a government funded complex that charges rent based on what you get in social security. Franklin gets about $970 in social security, so her rent is about $250 a month.
It's the end of the month and she's basically out of cash so hearing the complex wanted next months rent early was quite a shock.

Oh, please, they’ve already gone out. People who have direct deposit got them a couple of days ago, in fact. More hysteria from the press (although I feel bad for the poor woman, because she apparently was simple enough to believe everything the Dems said).
She might just have to get a job!
My dad gets SS deposited directly, and it doesn’t arrive until the 6th - that is seven days hence.
Effin Bowbama scaring the old people!
My liberal relatives were trying to scare my grandmother about that.
She educated them about the fact that social security could only be cut off through a conscious effort.
I feel sorry for these elderly people. They are being played like a fiddle by the Obama Administration and the dems, and being in the elder years don’t realize it. Many are fearful and we have nobody to blame but our glorious leader.
I don’t get mine until the las Thursday of the month........
Yep. I wonder if this “government” complex could be open to lawsuits for scaring the residents. Any lawyers here?
I’m sorry, but people can be really stupid.
Instead of finding out the truth for themselves, they get hysterical on cue.
Tell the landlords to shove it, unless their leases have some sort of clause where they can demand rent early whenever they feel like it.
“My liberal relatives were trying to scare my grandmother about that.”
I wonder what the overlap is between the scare-granny types and the ones who swear SS is fully funded and not a Ponzi scheme ?
where would the democrat party be without stupid people?
Don’t worry Sarah....
They made sure to confiscate about 2/3 of your check from my check last month.
I get mine on the third Wed of the month - alphabetically?
I wonder how many of the scare granny types are the same people who want everyone over 40 to die and quit polluting the planet.
I'm willing to bet the managers of this government funded complex were told to ask for rent payments early as a means of scaring the tenants.
What are they going to do if they can't pay early? Kick them out to make room for illegal aliens?
Given that this is Californistan, that may be a real possibility.
Propaganda.....more on the way.
Obama will probably evict his grandmother just to show her on TV backing up his lies...
Unless the government is planning on spending the funds on something not related to Social Security, the funds are there and won’t be touched. It is a lie that it won’t be paid and it would be illegal.
People should call the Liberals bluff and point out that SS is supposed to be in a “lock box” and not be pilfered for general expenses.
If they claim that the funds can’t be protected, then point out that it is illegal or at minimum crooked for them to steal from the retirement fund — the root cause of the mess we find ourselves in.
