Our Admiral Ackbar Moment — It Is A Trap (Even Rush Limbaugh saying it right now)

As you wake up, here is what you need to know.

John Boehner thinks he has the votes to pass his third plan out of the House. Work to make sure he does not by going to http://www.redstate.com/action and calling your member of Congress. Tell them to oppose Boehner’s plan.

Even if you are sympathetic to Boehner’s plan, here is why it must be killed — it is a trap.

Pay attention please.

Harry Reid and all the Senate Democrats have sent John Boehner a letter saying they will oppose his plan in the Senate. In other words, Boehner’s plan, given the GOP votes in the Senate pledged to vote against it, will get less votes in both the House and in the Senate than Cut, Cap, and Balance.

Here, though, is why it is important to kill John Boehner’s plan this very morning before today’s vote.

John Boehner’s plan will get to the Senate. Harry Reid’s plan isn’t even in final form and has not even started making its way through the Senate’s arcane processes. It is a trap.

Harry Reid will amend John Boehner’s plan and include parts of Reid’s own plan that make tax increases even more likely than Boehner’s already does.

Senate Democrats last night were beginning to talk about adding the Gang of Six’s very bad plan to it as well — a trigger that would be engaged should the Democrats then refuse to reform entitlements, i.e. a trigger the Democrats will gladly engage because the Gang of Six plan raises taxes, including getting rid of the employer credit for active duty military reservists and raising the capital gains tax from 15% to 28%.

Then the Senate Democrats will send John Boehner back his own plan and dare John Boehner to kill his very own proposal. Should he try, the GOP will look as hardline and unwilling to compromise as John Boehner’s acolytes have been accusing conservatives of being this week.

In other words, John Boehner, once he sends his plan to the Senate, will yet again get played and the GOP will be forced to either accept Harry Reid’s awful changes or be blamed for causing the nation’s default — the very thing the GOP has sought to avoid.

Oh, and should the GOP fold and pass the modified Boehner plan, they’ll still get blamed for us losing our credit rating. Even with Boehner’s revisions, the Congressional Budget Office says the plan doesn’t cut even $1 trillion. It doesn’t meet S&P’s requirements.

Well done, Republicans.

The only thing we can do is call our congressmen and prevent them from voting for this suicide pact. Go here now.

“Harry Reid will amend John Boehner’s plan and include parts of Reid’s own plan that make tax increases even more likely than Boehner’s already does.’

Rush hasn’t discovered a trap. Everyone knows this is the process, whether we like it or not.

The brilliant political alternative is to send no bill at all?

1/3 cannot trump 2/3.

“If Boehner can pass ANYTHING which cuts any spending and limits the debt ceiling increase to LESS then the spending cuts it is a win and a starting place.”

But he can’t and isn’t. Do you not know that HE CANNOT BIND A FUTURE CONGRESS?????

The cuts in the future are MEANINGLESS. He can’t enforce it. Smoke and Mirrors.

So either you are clueless or you really know it and are pretending Boehner’s plan is something it is not.

Yes, the plan SHOULD have been to send nothing and give Demint a chance to get his 4 votes. But Boehner tried to scare the House.

That picture says it all. He doesn’t even NEED to stab Bonehead in the back. Because he’s a... Bonehead.

If the Boner plan looks like it won’t get enough republican votes to pass the house then at the last minute enough dems will decide to vote for it so it can get sent to the house.

Looks like the trap will be set...no matter how many tea party house members decide to vote no.

Only way out of this trap is for all the repubs to vote no...but alas there are too many rinos and dems so we are screwed. :-(

Since the measure will pass the house no matter what then all good conservatives need to vote NO! Let the dems and rinos be solely responsible for this travesty. Tea party members need to hold the line here or they will look like traitors come 2012.

Lotsa luck with that.

I have to hand it to the Democrats. I despise them. But they know how to hold the line.

Republicans are the party that caves.

The primary objective of any conservative in federal office right now is (or should be) to completely sabotage the lefts agenda at every opportunity.

Control of the house is not enough to “fix” what the socialists have done to us. Control of all three branches of the fedgov is not enough to fix what has been corrupted, because its never by a large enough margin and there are always socialist repubs ready willing and able to betray us.

The “FIX” is going to come from the states via the 10th ammend. The ONLY job the GOP needs to get done in the fedgov is to cripple the lefts agenda and the fedgov.

F’em

I agree. Even better, send a straight up, simple and easy to understand balanced budget amendment to the Senate and then adjourned the house.

Make the Democrats explain why the don’t want to balance the budget.

While it probably is a trap - the jaws won’t close unless the House decides to step in it. If the Senate changes it, it has to go back to the House.

It’s too late for CCB. Boehner screwed the pooch on that one.

Notice that Reid tabled it instead of voting on it? He could have done the exact same thing he is about to do with Boehner’s bill. But he didn’t.

I hope Demint does something to stop Boehner’s bill from getting out of the Senate.

I think the House should send an amended form of CCB to include the requirement that if funds are inadequate payments to Social Security and Medicare recipients and for the military will receive priority. Then, if the the senate rejects this and any of those needs are unmet it will the Dem's fault. I agree that sending a Boehner plan that is the result of extreme arm twisting will only hurt the GOP.
