Veterans Summoned to White House, Told to Brace for Cuts

BECKLEY -- Leaders of veterans groups met with administration officials Tuesday to discuss what is at stake if Congress cannot come to a consensus.
President Obama has said that if a default occurs, the administration will be forced to prioritize who gets paid.
That means those receiving veterans benefits, social security, unemployment insurance, tuition grants, food stamps, and child care subsidies may be forced to compete for coverage.
“If that happens, and we default, we would not have enough money to pay all of our bills –bills that include monthly Social Security checks, veterans’ benefits, and the government contracts we’ve signed with thousands of businesses,” said the President.
Each day without a deal, veterans at the Raleigh County Commission on Aging worry whether their check will come in the mail next month.
“The fact that the President comes out and threatens to take away our social security checks and not pay the veterans is despicable,” said David Hern, a veteran fought in Korea.

No one knows what will happen when we default. What we do know is that Obama will do his best to make it worse.
Obama’s trying to rattle the quite powerful Veterans Service Organizations and coopt them into attacking the GOP on the debt ceiling.
He will make as much political capital out of it as he can. Remember: Never let a crisis go to waste.
When your base is illiterate and dependent, you can do that.

Joe the Plumber disagreed with him and hit pieces on him made all the news. The Representative from South Carolina spoke the truth about him and was severely chastized by the Congressional Republicans and I haven't heard from him since. joe Walsh? There is a hit piece about him posted on this forum from the Chicago paper.
From this point in time and continuing through the election, things are going get very nasty and and probably very violent.

On Liberal Whacko Planet, killing babies is more important than Veterans Pensions, or Grandma’s Social Security.
I think many people do indeed live by such behavior.
I lived that way for a number of years due to unforeseen circumstances – disability retirement from the Army after over 20 years of service.
Every time I applied for a new loan or credit card I rationalized it by thinking that something would come up. After graduating with a BA I discovered there weren’t many openings for a retired GI over 40 years old. I settled for delivering pizza and later driving a taxi.
I realized our debt was getting out of hand and we were making only minimum payments. Too many people never make that realization. We moved to a cheaper apartment and cut back on expenses. After my wife died of cancer I went into hibernation, rarely going out and I learned how not to spend money.
Think our Congress Critters will ever do the same?
I’m now out of debt except for a car payment. I have two months pay in a savings account. I still go to my favorite watering hole twice a week for one beer and conversation. That’s the extend of my splurging on entertainment.
That day...Is it the day some Secret Service Agent finds out that his beloved grandmother dropped dead because she couldn’t afford her meds?

If, in fact, the cuts were going to be applied evenly there would be less to complain about.
Nowhere do I hear that they will cut free health care, housing, education and all the rest for illegals. No where do I hear they want to cut welfare, food stamps, and free cell phones, cars for the unproductive segments of our society.
We are asked to tighten our belts while 51% of the population keeps getting bigger and bigger bellies with their free food stamps. I am not going to suck it up and agree to their plans.

0bama and his regime are no longer hiding who they really are. It seems everyday we see them revealing themselves even more.
I am beginning to wonder if the elections of 2008 with the revolt in the House stepped up their plans?
And isn’t wholly and totally terrifying we even speak of/like there is a foreign entity occupying our government? Does it not cause ponder to consider the idle chatter seems more accurate than all the denials.
Are we in the midst of an overthrow of American government? Or is it really just all bad politicians and greed?
