EAST HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -

Members of the East Haven community are hosting a rally Wednesday night to support their police department, which is under investigation after complaints of racial profiling against Latinos.

The members are also asking for the mayor's support.

On Wednesday, Mayor April Capone said she supports the department, but wants to see what the FBI finds after its investigation.

A video taken in March 2009 led the controversy and an FBI investigation into the department.

The video, taken by a priest inside a Latino-owned business, shows officers giving his Latino parishioners a hard time.

Not having seen the entire video, it appears to me that it is just normal police investigation work. It is great to see the community, whoa are now must likely considered all racist now, fighting back against the community agitators.

So an outside consultant came in and suggested a new mission statement and more policies. Now there’s scandal if there ever was one. As for there being three internal investigations going on, there are always internal investigations going on if a police department exists.

As for Justice Department investigations ongoing, folks will have to forgive me for thinking an Obama Justice Department would snap on the chance for a racial investigation like a vagrant on a stack of $100 bills.

With no more information than is provided about the incident inside the business, it’s hard to gauge who is at fault. There are times when the families of perps or the perps themselves file charges to get the police to back off. No all of those are warranted.
