Well, I understand the anger, but if a lot of healthy donors stop giving, then some poor person who needs blood will be that much more likely to get something bad from a transfusion.

This is frightening. I know a young man who needs to get blood at least several times a year to stay healthy. This makes me want to cry.

BTW, how many children did Jerry raise? and does he even have any genetic interest in the future—any grandchildren? Someone in England just got Hepatitis B because the Brits thought having homosexuals donate organs would be a good idea.
It’s just a waste of money. The blood screening assays will kick out practically all of homosexuals’ donated blood so it can’t be used.
My mother died from Hepatitis she got from tainted blood during a blood transfusion. She got the transfusion in 1970 and her liver finally gave out in 1991. I think I’m going to be against this one.

Unless they can guarantee you that you’ll receive the exact blood of the donors you’ve lined up, that may not be the answer. I think they just take those people’s blood and stockpile it in the bank, and you may or may not receive that blood. It’s considered to be donated for you, but it’s on behalf of you in reality. (Anyhow, that’s what I was told when I did our blood drives at the office years ago.)
