- A mystery man arrested on minor charges more than three weeks ago remains behind bars in Utah while law enforcement officials try to determine his true identity, which he refuses to reveal.
"This is really a strange case," said Lt. Dennis Harris with the Utah County Sheriff's Office. "He just doesn't want to be found."
The unidentified man, who has graying hair, a light beard and is believed to be in his 60's, was arrested on July 1 for trespassing in a parking garage.
He was booked into jail on three misdemeanor charges and has thwarted any chance of release, with or without bail, by refusing to identify himself.

So long as the roots are not severed....all is well in the garden.
I read of a similar case once. I forget the exact details, but the guy stayed an ungodly amount of time in jail, something like 10 years for a charge that wouldn’t have brought him more than 30 days in jail.
Seems to me like once he has been confined to the maximum amount that the charge would bring they should let him go.
It’s all about control, though. They want to know who they are dealing with. Same as when you are speeding and the arresting officer wants to know your job. What does that have to do with anything but control.
> This does not pass the smell test, hell man tell them you name is Bill Clintoon.
If he refuses to identify he hasn’t broken any laws.
If he says he’s Bill Clinton, then he’s lying and that is breaking the law.
Judge Crater
Sheriff Joe does it every day.
How do you know he is not the real bill, and how come we do not apply the same laws to illegals.
That's exactly what he told them.
"I'm with the One Thirty Second under Perry, from '21 to '27. Then I was assigned Recon/ Security, last two years, under John Connor."
Except for Utah Title 77, Chapter 7, Section 15. But who's counting?

I dunno. Sixty-somethings are not known to be very accurate with the Phased Plasma Rifles with fourty-watt range.
John Walton?
He ‘could’ be free to walk at any time. He’s staying in prison (on the taxpayer dime) on his own accord. If he refuses to identify himself - then ANYONE caught committing a crime could refuse to identify themself - and walk out of jail at any time. Maybe he is hiding his identity, because he’s an escaped felon?
We all have records for parking tickets, speeding tickets, or any offenses we have made. Does the ‘charge’ magically disappear because this person doesn’t want the charge of criminal activity he had committed, permanently tied to his name?
No, he can cool his heels until he decides to cooperate - it’s all within the Utah state law (see earlier post). Then, perhaps he will get some additional charges for the time/cost he has cost the Utah taxpayer due to his failure to cooperate with the justice system. You see, we are a nation of laws ... if you just follow the law, this will never be an issue.
I’d show his picture to Ayers & Dohrn, and say that he gave their names as a reference...
GREAT SCOTT!
Take your pants off.
I don't even know your name.
Ben Dover.
Ben? Nice to meet you. Victor Hugo. You wouldn't happen to have a middle name, would you? Everyone else around here seems to. What are you in for, Ben?
Molesting a dead horse.
Well, there's no crime in that. It's your right as an American. I'm trying to cut down myself.
With no matching fingerprints? Uh, no.
