there is something wrong with this. One person does not, in isolation, create a 1500 page “manifesto”, especially not one as young as him. No, something is not right about this picture. It is too neatly packaged. I do not believe he was a fundamentalist or a right wing type. You don’t kill people who agree with you.
He didn't do this alone (the manifest and video).
Sounds like another crazy Lefty. First, the Holocaust Museum bomber, then Jared Laughner, and now this. They’ve got a real problem.
Here’s an interesting excerpt from the 2083 Manifesto (the nutboy from Oslo) concerning the USA (page 1266)

We are calling for the impeachment of ALL Senators and Representatives who have
voted, or are planning to vote, to expand the control of government.
Republican/Democrat/Independent... no matter. We determine their guilt or innocence
based on their voting record.

Seeing as how we’ve all read similar things here on FR from time to time, maybe someone could explain how this fellow is a left-winger (or a jihadist)?

Something put together ‘under the radar’.
For me, at least, the only “suspicious” thing about this document is that it seems he plagiarized large segments of the Unabomber manifesto, and quotes extensively from the blogger known as ‘fjordman’. The parts about conducting asymmetric warfare seem to be his additions.
He says he spent nine years in the planning and execution of this attack, which is supposed to be the spark that ignites the “conservative revolution”.
I’m not inclined in any way towards conspiracy theories. I accept this as his work, his thoughts, and his sincere statement of the necessity to fight for Western Civilization. It is his (twisted) thought; I take the man at his word (though apparently heavily plagiarized). Tomorrow, as per his attorney, he will no doubt have plenty to say at his first court appearance.
I know you have read extensively from the manifesto. Do you know if Anders Behring Breivik spoke English? Let's face it, that video is as slick and professional as they come. If he doesn't speak English, than there is more to this "Templars" thing than a lone nutjob.
He does speak English apparently, he was a diplomat at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in London.
His father was a diplomat.
The killer is likely fluent in English as most Norwegians under the age of 60 are fluent—especially if they have lived in a major Norwegian city.
He definitely does not agree with the Labor Party. He viewed them as enabling the destruction of Norway by actively aiding muslim immigration into the country. On the island, the youth wing was discussing anti-racism (pro-immigration) activism and the party generally has no problems with immigration. This guy did.
Yes, he does speak English, and as I can personally attest, having visited Scandinavia since I was a small child, Scandinavians almost universally speak English (sometimes better than native English speakers).
