Never been to summer camp.
But this is apparently an island retreat for the children of a particular political party.
Surely every summer camp has a reasonable number of adults in attendance?
Not sure what sort of wildlife might appear on an island in that part of the world.
But in any U.S. woods I would expect the people in charge to have some sort of firearm available to repel anything from bears to rabid squirrels, and certainly to be able to stop a mere lone human!

I heard 80 too, on the radio about 2 hours ago. Thot it was misread, tho, as we had been hearing ~ 30.

They did notice him loitering around the government buildings....but what are you to do with someone hanging around? Many people do that. This guys photo wouldn’t make me wonder what he was doing....looks Norwegian...not especially dangerous looking either....but then they often aren’t. It was a small island with 700 kids on it.
If it took the cops 1/2 hour to get there and find the guy he could have killed that many alone.
I don’t believe just one person did both the bombing and the shooting, he must have had help. Comments on another thread said he was seen to be speaking into a headset while on the rampage. Lots more to come out of this one in the days ahead.

According to BBC, they had just been gathered to a meeting to be told about the bombing and maybe it was the perp in his police clothing that gathered them - anyway then the shooting began.
Massive car bomb explosion wrecks 3 city blocks. Shortly after 80+ gunned down on an island without a bridge. And the media wants us all to believe it was the work of ONE MAN?
