During his town hall meeting in Maryland today on the debt crisis, President Obama found time to answer critics who think his position (and positions) have a socialist flavor. And he joked about it.
This isnt just some wild-eyed socialist position, its the position being taken by people of both parties and no party, he said with with a smirk as the audience chuckled and after talking about shared sacrifice:
Obama seems well aware of his critics. For example, on radio today Glenn Beck labeled the president a Marxist.
Less than two weeks away from a debt ceiling deadline, President Barack Obama sought Friday to pressure House Republicans to come around to a deal that he insisted must include new taxes which he calls revenues as well as spending cuts.
At the same time, even with no clear end in sight to negotiations that have dragged on for weeks, the president asserted that the U.S. has never defaulted on its debt and wont do so now.

We are on the ugly side of the Laffer curve and heading in the wrong direction.
Talk, Talk, Talk. How bout some Action you Socialist Jack Wagon !!. Stuff your Redistrbution.
But that "Coalition" headed by Bachmann, is as useless as tits on a Bull, because they have no unity, and no leaderrship.
Looks like a job for the ‘economist’. [Or is it, ‘The Economist’, a la ‘The Green Lantern’?] You have your work cut out for you on this thread! Barry is being called a Marxist left and right. You need to clarify the nuance between ‘European socialism’ and Marxism (since you are an ‘economist’, and you understand these “subtleties”). Here’s your big chance! You can either treat us all to one of your highhanded lectures....
Or you can just cut to the chase and tell us all how ignorant we are. After all, the very idea Barry might actually be a Marxist—unthinkable!
At least by you.
"This isn't just some wild-eyed socialist position, it's ALSO the position being taken by people of both parties and no party"
Me, my grandmother, my mother, my mother-in-law, my wife, my daughter, and my daughter-in-law ALL hold a mop more effectively that Obama does in that photo-op ....
America's Founders loved liberty more than life, and they warned "the People" of the danger to liberty of a future leader/leaders who might destroy that liberty for individuals.
"To preserve [the] independence [of the people,] we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our election between economy and liberty, or profusion and servitude. If we run into such debts as that we must be taxed in our meat and in our drink, in our necessaries and our comforts, in our labors and our amusements, for our callings and our creeds, as the people of England are, our people, like them, must come to labor sixteen hours in the twenty-four, give the earnings of fifteen of these to the government for their debts and daily expenses, and the sixteenth being insufficient to afford us bread, we must live, as they now do, on oatmeal and potatoes, have no time to think, no means of calling the mismanagers to account, but be glad to obtain subsistence by hiring ourselves to rivet their chains on the necks of our fellow-sufferers." --Thomas Jefferson to Samuel Kercheval, 1816. ME 15:39
"Were we directed from Washington when to sow and when to reap, we should soon want bread." --Thomas Jefferson: Autobiography, 1821. ME 1:122
"I deem [this one of] the essential principles of our government and consequently [one] which ought to shape its administration:... The honest payment of our debts and sacred preservation of the public faith." --Thomas Jefferson: 1st Inaugural, 1801. ME 3:322
"I sincerely believe... that the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity under the name of funding is but swindling futurity on a large scale." --Thomas Jefferson to John Taylor, 1816. ME 15:23
"[With the decline of society] begins, indeed, the bellum omnium in omnia [war of all against all], which some philosophers observing to be so general in this world, have mistaken it for the natural, instead of the abusive state of man. And the fore horse of this frightful team is public debt. Taxation follows that, and in its train wretchedness and oppression." --Thomas Jefferson to Samuel Kercheval, 1816. ME 15:40
Well, to the people at NPR, 0bama probably DOESN’T seem like a socialist!
I couldn’t believe those Maryland moron commies sitting behind him LAUGHING at this so-called “quip”.
To think that Maryland was founded on strong principles of independence and freedom by very religious Roman Catholics, the Carroll family!
They must all be turning over in their graves to have this usurper come onto their territory and promote atheistic, stifling socialism.
Nope, Barry’s not just a socialist (feel good communism),
he’s a full blown “dictatorship of the proletariate” Marxist.
Great quotes from a great American.
Freudian slip-—
First, he called it a socialist position.
Second, he called it a “wild-eyed” socialist position.
And then he lied by implying it was a virtually unanimous “position being taken by people [how many people?] of both parties and no party.”
I doubt that comment was on TOTUS. lol
The debt of the USA when Obama took office was about 8 Trillion
When this bill to raise the debt we will be at 16 Trillion or more
One President has added in less than one term double the debt when he took office.
What should he be called?
Why are the GOP so stupid not to run ads on Obama its too easy.
His positions are 100% socialist, but the eyes are anti-life and anti-freedom, the dead eyes of a psychopath ready to go postal on a much larger scale that ever seen in our history.
I just listened to the clip. They transcribed incorrectly. He left “JUST” out of the “wild-eyed socialist” phrase.
“This isn’t just my position; this isn’t just the Democratic position; this isn’t some wild-eyed socialist position...”

And I’m sure you and all of the women in your family are smarter and have more decency than him too!
See post 36; I posted before I saw your post.
“Why are the GOP so stupid not to run ads on Obama its too easy. “
I ask myself the same question and was hoping this would make a good sound bite.
I would go further..He is a Communist.
They put quotations around the wrong word. Should have been “Quip”
