Sen. Harkin: "Cult Fringe" Holding Up Debt Ceiling Increase

Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) calls Republicans "dead-beat debtors" among other things during a Democratic press conference on Wednesday morning.

"The debate and fight is not between Democrats and Republicans. It's between some Republicans and their sort of cult fringe as I refer to them out there," Harkin said.

"Democrats are willing to do whatever is necessary to raise the debt ceiling, not for future borrowing but to pay the debts that we racked up in the past. Which, mostly was racked up by a Republican House, a Republican Senate and a Republican President in the last 8 years. Yet, they're not willing to pay the bills," Harkin said.

I guess the American public are a "cult fringe" eh Comrade Tom?? Poll after poll shows majorities want no tax increases. Those wanting them are the minority, the true cult fringe. Sorry, but the GOP isn't falling for it this time--or they better not--raising taxes like the tax obsessed Marxist left is obsessed with in return for spending cuts that will never happen. Yo Tom, Obama's run up more debt in 2 years than Bush ran up in 6 years...and when Pelosi and Reid controlled the House and Senate for 2 years under Bush, did we suddenly have balanced budgets??? Obama's slated to double the debt run up by every president from Washington to W. Bush in just 2 1/2 more years and you have the gall to bring up Bush??? And someone needs to inform him that raising the debt limit has nothing to do with past spending but on the massive new spending Obama and the Dems want to do in the future. Guess he missed the 2006 elections where the dims took over both houses of congress. So for 5 of the last 8 years the dims had control of the purse strings. He might want to look at what happened to the deficit under pelosi and reid.
