Should Rick Perry conclude that voter discontent has left him an opening to enter the presidential race, the Texas governor would be among the Republican field's most conservative candidates.
Rick Perry rejects the idea of global warming and the theory of evolution, arguing for natural climate variations and intelligent design of the universe.
He branded Social Security and other New Deal safety net programmes "the second big step in the march of socialism," according to a book published last year. The "first step" was a national income tax, which he has said stands alongside the direct election of US senators as a major mistake among the amendments to the US Constitution.
In the just-completed Texas legislative session, Perry's "emergency items" included laws that require a photo ID in order to vote, a sonogram before a woman had an abortion and enforcement of federal immigration laws by local police.
Texas is the only state that has refused to put in place the EPA's new rules regulating carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping gases.

Not to mention Arizona picking up where the federal government has failed over and over again.

Are you aware of the State resources he has placed on the border?
Can you cite them?
Are you aware of ANY effect, whatsoever this effort of his has had on stemming the flood of Illegals into Texas?
Can you cite ANY objective study that provides any type of real objective measurement of ANY positive effect this effort of Perry's has had on Illegal Immigration?

If you are going to hold endorsements against people, don’t forget that Tom Coburn endorsed John McCain, Jim DeMint endorsed Mitt Romney, and Sarah Palin endorsed John McCain for the Senate primary.
People endorse for many reasons; I do think endorsing Rudy was bad judgment, but I’d hate to see an otherwise good candidate sunk because of a couple of bad endorsement decisions.
To: Clairity
Apparently he attended the 2007 Bilderberg meeting so what is he, a closet one worlder where by his conservative speak is just more deception by an establishment politician?
To: Balding_Eagle
Rick Perry, more correctly known as George Bush III.It will be Perry in for the win. Get on the team or step aside.
To: ExtremeUnction
I’ll vote Palin instead of stepping aside.
I want a conservative in the WH.
To: SoConPubbie
I knew you could not answer a simple question.
So, I would encourage you to stay in California, where there are no problems at all because they were all solved by people like you.
You do not understand it is the feds job to secure the border, not the States.

Actually, you and Perry need to get out of the road, because soon, very soon, you'll both be steamrolled by the Palin SteamRoller!

Rick (Gov. Good hair) has a LONG list of those “bad endorsement decisions”
and always in a year HE was not up for reelection—Makes you say-—hummmmm
I lived in Texas under Perry. I can tell you he sounds GREAT right now, but I was there when he was not running. If it was JUST the Rudy G thing, I could look over it, but if you read the posts above, you will see a long list of the REAL Rick Perry.
He would be better than what we have now, but so would almost anyone.

You do not understand it is the feds job to secure the border, not the States.
Apparently the US Supreme Court does not agree with you and your definition of what that job entails and who is legally able to do that job.
The SCOTUS just ruled that AZ1070 was legal and ruled in it's favor against those like you who think/believe/feel that only the Feds can do something about controlling Illegal Immigration.
AZ1070 has many components that actually deal effectively with Illegal Immigration, so no, I do not know that only the Feds can deal with this problem and neither does SCOTUS.
To: SoConPubbie
Please cite where 1070 cedes border control to the States.
It’s not there.

You’d have hated Reagan since he granted amnesty to millions of illegals.
When the perfect conservative falls from heaven, I will happily vote for them, but in the meantime Perry will have to do !

To: SoConPubbie
Don’t forget that he signed into law the “hate crimes” bill that even George Bush had enough sense to veto.

You know Palin teamed with the Dems in the Alaskan congress to pass a windfall tax on oil companies. She enjoyed an 80% approval rating as those $1200 checks were being sent out and it boosted the Alaskan revenue tremendously. I wonder if she has any plans to tax Big Oil and disperse checks to the American voter?
By the way, as a 10th Amendment guy, Alaska can tax anyone they want. If they think profit from state owned land that produces oil should go to the people via tax hikes on the oil companies, so be it. Alaska is in a unique position to do that. It's just not a very conservative sounding approach, nor is governing for half a term and quitting.

This again?
OK, here are the facts concerning Reagan's Amnesty:
1. It actually had enforcement included in it, tough sanctions against illegals and employers that were never implemented. The same cannot be said about McCain's Amnesty bill that Perry backed.
2. Reagan admitted to his son Michael that his Amnesty bill was probably the biggest mistake of his political career
3. The hope was that his bill would solve the problem by legalizing those here and removing the incentive for future Illegal Immigration (see #1 and #2).
4. The amnesty did nothing but increase Illegal Immigration, because Illegals saw no downside to coming here illegally.
5. Given #1, #2, #3, and #4, why does Rick Perry still think it's a good idea to give Amnesty to the Illegals currently here in the US?
To: davetex

Ok, now I am lost.
You have narrowed it down to dealing with an international border. I am dealing with the actual problem, Illegal Immigration.
So, what was your problem originally with what I posted about Rick Perry and AZ1070?
To: Clairity
Perry = Amnesty... He is Rove’s lacky..

It's just not a very conservative sounding approach, nor is governing for half a term and quitting. The Alaska Constitution, as it relates to natural resources isn't very conservative, however, that's the framework all the governors had to work within.
Prior to Palin, the governors decided to screw the people, keeping the spoils for themselves.
Palin changed that, spreading the spoils around to everyone.
To someone like you, that may not be fair, but the citizens of Alaska thought otherwise, and they are the ones who count.
