Yes, the rest of the world is watching this embarrassing debt ceiling nonsense, and it is growing dismayed.
Der Spiegel has a roundup of commentary in German newspapers about the fight, and the universal message is this:
The US is holding the entire world hostage, and it's the Republicans that are playing with fire.

I’m a conservative and a Tea Partier. The Republicans used to share my views, which then made me a Republican.
Now I’m not so sure. That being said: the fact that socialist/whatever countries are pitching a fit because some of the GOP might be trying to right our ship of state: cry me a frick’n river.
At this point, I don’t really care if they’re trying to do what is right, or save their own sorry asses. I’m okay with it.

If they don't understand that if the US doesn't get it's house in order and put the breaks on spending, they are doomed - and yes, ignorant. There is no hope for them without a healthy US..If they had any sense they would be rooting for the Republicans to cut, cap and get a balanced budget amendment.
