We Are The Undefeated: Why Sarah Palin should run

The new Sarah Palin documentary, The Undefeated, opened to solid box office numbers this weekend. Oddly, the Atlantic tried to cook up a quick hit piece on the Palin film by sending the hapless Conor Friedersdorf to an unadvertised midnight showing in Orange County on a Thursday night. He proceeded to note at great length that not many people were in the theater.

This story was quickly picked up and run by other media outlets, in an attempt to construct a “flop” narrative, quickly rendered as hollow and irrelevant as an Obama economic prediction.

Friedersdorf, and the others who ran with his story, cannot be stupid enough to think that theater attendance at 12:45 AM on a Thursday night, at an unadvertised screening of a documentary, while one of the year’s most anticipated summer blockbusters was rolling out, could be truly indicative of The Undefeated’s opening weekend performance.

They had to work fast to manufacture this hit, since the eagerness of Palin fans to see The Undefeated was not exactly a secret. Their goal was to pump one more anti-Palin story into the billowing cloud of toxic smog pouring from major media outlets. They did it so that liberal readers who won’t go anywhere near a screening of this movie can high-five each other and chuckle about what a bomb it was, providing the ”reality-based community” with another of its many fables that survive any chance encounter with contradictory evidence.

I want Palin to run because I want a candidate who inspires that kind of desperation in the Left. I want someone who drives them to sit in little circles around their campfires and tell ghost stories.

This might sound harsh, but I also consider the way Palin brings out the knuckle-dragging misogyny of liberals to be a plus. Modern liberalism is an ideology of hatred and envy. Its blood burns hotter as every product of its imagination becomes a titanic failure in the real world. It has nothing left but hatred now. Liberals have sunk so low that they openly value punitive taxation more than avoiding national default. They spend their time looking for targets, not solutions.

Similar levels of shrieking hysteria are directed at the Left’s other class and ideological enemies. The sexist fury they unleash against Palin is a useful reminder of their true nature to voters that should understand what kind of future they are voting for, when they vote for a liberal. Palin has proven she can take the heat.

Some of the other 2012 GOP contenders strike me as the sort who will be very surprised by what crawls out of the media’s Hellraiser puzzle box after they win the nomination… especially the ones that want to run as “moderates.” Sorry, fellas, but nobody to the right of this radical President is going to be anointed as a “moderate” once the general election campaign begins. If you don’t fill out your Tea Party application now, rest assured the press will do it for you next year.

The media has no surprises left for Sarah Palin. She handled their combined onslaught when major news outlets were openly calling her an accessory to murder in the Tucson shootings. Not all of her potential 2012 competitors were quick to stand by her side, but they should have been. If you can’t swiftly and forcefully defend your party’s tireless, highly visible former vice-presidential candidate from such disgusting slander, what kind of Republican are you? I want Palin to run because she’s a candid voice in an age of lies and deceit. Her running mate in 2008, John McCain , buried his own candidacy in a shallow grave by refusing to speak candidly about Barack Obama ’s shady background and penchant for falsehood. Palin did that, and was excoriated as a “bomb thrower” in the media. She was right. Everything she said about Obama was right. We’ve lost trillions of dollars and millions of jobs because not enough voters listened to her.

The debt ceiling debate has given America a long, hard look at the sick and degenerate politics of Democrats. The President of the United States just lied about opinion poll numbers during a major press conference, in a desperate attempt to make himself look like less of an extremist. This came after days of fraudulent threats to default on America’s financial obligations and freeze Social Security checks. Americans don’t need another presidential candidate who wastes our time being excessively deferential to someone who lies to us and threatens us incessantly. We need one who calls him out the way Sarah Palin always has.

Palin has been dead right about a lot of important issues. She outperformed quite a few high-performance economists in her assessment of the Quantitative Easing monetary strategy. She’s always been right about domestic energy production, and it gets more obvious by the day. How does her record of accurate predictions stack up against the President and his wise men over the past two years? Some other candidates can do a pretty good job of dissecting the Obama record. Palin did it in advance.

She walks eagerly into the crossfire to support people like Rep. Paul Ryan, even back when he was still working on his “Ryan Roadmap,” the precursor to his “Path to Prosperity” budget. Few of the other presidential contenders have done as much for the Republican Party, and the conservative movement, as Palin over the last few years. That will count for a lot, when the new President must assemble congressional majorities to pass crucial legislation. I can remember many crucial moments since 2008 when Sarah Palin took a firm position on important issues with a whole lot of empty space around her, where other Republicans should have been standing.

Most importantly of all, I like Palin’s aura of confidence… not just in herself, but in the people of the United States. There is something luminous about the way she expresses it. Her cheerful reverence and affection for ordinary people is both comforting and inspiring. Many candidates give impressive performances. Not all of them seem as impressed by us as Palin does. To Palin, we are “the undefeated.”

The great struggle ahead of us will involve returning liberty to a nation that has lost confidence in its government, years after the government so obviously lost confidence in us. Our enormous national debt means that Washington sees the American people as so feeble that the rest of the world must be induced to fund government programs to take care of us.

It is said that we must indenture our children for generations to come, in order to finance welfare benefits for today’s population of adults, who are helpless in a growing number of areas without government supervision. The bumbling descendants of the Greatest Generation must be told what kind of car to drive, what kind of light bulb to use, which kind of inefficient and overpriced energy should fuel their businesses, and how to handle their health care needs. A stagnant, jobless economy is presented as the “new normal.” Things would be even worse, if the Democrats hadn’t told the future how to spend four trillion dollars of its wealth.

The leader who challenges that dark fantasy must have a great and inspirational belief in the strength and wisdom of the American people. Where the State has failed, free men and women will succeed. Where regulation has failed, enterprise will triumph. The rot of central planning will burn away in the light of private sector risk and investment. It shouldn’t have taken us decades to remember that politicians don’t know squat about running a business… but better late than never.

I want Palin to run because she gets all that, and doesn’t need stare into a mirror before TV interviews and remind herself to believe it. The people who look down their noses at her have an equally low opinion of the public they have failed so utterly. Worship of the State is all about submission. I don’t see anything coming out of the Left that I feel like submitting to any longer.

We the people of the United States stand on the verge of withdrawing our consent from a collapsing system that will curse us with its dying breath. That’s going to take guts. Sarah Palin honestly believes we can do it. So do I. The time for doubting ourselves is over.

I wrote this on another FR post, and I want this to be Palin's economic agenda as she runs for President:

If we want to get the economy going again we need to do the following:

1. Every government agency at the Federal, state and county level must be aggressively audited the following wasteful items:

a. Bureaucratic overlap--too many agencies are trying to do the same job when one agency should be doing it instead.
b. Agency bloat--too many agencies are just too big and need to be pruned back quite a bit.
c. Too many regulations--there are a lot of regulations that either are not worthy the expenditure to enforce the regulation or no longer needed due to changes since the law was first passed.

We need to use these audits to streamline government by as much as 30% immediately, with a goal of 50% or more in 4-5 years.

2. The current income tax system needs to be gutted right now because it has become an overly-complex mess that wastes resources (US$300 BILLION per year in compliance costs right now), drives millions of jobs, thousands of factories, hundreds of corporate headquarters, and maybe as much as US$14 TRILLION in American-owned liquid assets out of the country for income tax avoidance reasons, and is being overly-used as a means of political coercion. The Steve Forbes flat-rate income tax plan should be at minimum what our income tax system should be like, and we should seriously consider ending the income tax in favor of a national consumption tax like FairTax (H.R. 25/S. 13).

3. Wall Street needs to be reigned in, since it was the financial shenanigans of Wall Street that caused the mess in the first place. We need to impose the following:

a. Require all hedge funds, derivatives, and other new-style investments to be backed with real liquid assets or be banned as financially too risky.
b. Increase the minimum margin requirements for futures trading to 20%, and if you're trading in a tangible commodity must require 40% delivery of the product you trade in.
c. Break up the "too big to fail" investment banks by re-imposing the 1933 Glass-Steagall Act, which will also protect conventional bank assets from the ups and downs of the stock market.
d. Re-do the Sarbanes-Oxley Act to make it easier to do corporate initial public offerings (IPO's).

Given the history of what happened before the 1929 and 2008 crashes, like it or not Wall Street when it runs amok it cause tremendous financial harm, especially when the housing bubble crashed and took down Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers and AIG all within six months. If we had the controls I mentioned in place it's likely none of these financial disasters would have happened.

If she accepts this agenda for REAL reform, she would win in the biggest landslide victory since 1980.

I think the is way too smart to run a race she cannot win. Remember, we conservatives do not elect Preisdents. Neither do the hard libs. The undecideds, the middle 16 to 19% of the voters who are not that interested in politics.

They would not vote for Palin because she has been so vilified in the media. Very wrongly, her name is a bad joke nationally. She is the Katherine Harris of 2012. In the FL Senate race in 2006, Harris was the world's worst candidate, but she could have been perfect and not elected because she had been so vilified.

This is Palin’s present position: She is making about $12 million a year in speeches, appearances, TV work, books, etc. If she runs, that stops. She is at home when she wants to be. She is in the limelight when she wants to be, out of it when she wants to be.

If she were to run and lose, even just lose the nomination, her earning power and political power would be greatly diminished. 2008 was “McCain's loss.” 2012 would be hers.

She has no personal NEED to be president. If she can help elect someone who will follow her policies, that is enough.

Finally, right now, her endorsement is the most valuable thing (other than a big Iowa win) that any R candidate could ever want.

Two more things; Everyone talks about “her” platform and beliefs. Remember, as a “price” for her endorsement, the candidate will have to adopt many of them. That's great for us.

And secondly, read it and weep..... in person, she is an incredibly beautiful woman.

She looks good in photos, but the camera does not even begin to do her justice. Some models are “ok” in person, but beautiful on camera. She is great on camera, but exceptionally stunning in person.

When she sat down at the dinner table, most of the men had met her before, but there was a collective quiet gasp from the other man and all the (jealous) women who had no idea how beautiful she is.

You left out the CRASH of '87, which would have happened even with your regulation suggestions.

You want those doing commodity futures to have to take 40% of the commodity? Do you not understand that farmers buy commodity futures to try to lock in prices and don't want possession of that commodity?

Presidents aren't dictators and any candidate that would layout you plan, would be out of her or her mind!

Maybe you missed my last post to you. The exact opposite scenario happens, if Sarah decides not to run.

Much of America has been betting on the fact that she's going to run for president for over a year now, and Sarah is acutely aware of this. No other candidate (or potential candidate) has the depth and breadth of grass roots support that she does. It amounts to millions upon millions of people who are relying on her to answer the call. Again - she is acutely aware of this, and has been, since the end of the 2008 election.

Sarah Palin loves and respects the American people (and her staunch supporters) far too much to string their hopes along this way. She knew in 2009 that she had to quickly come to a decision on whether or not to run in 2012, because the pressure for her to run was building even then.

She would have ended all rumors and speculation about her running for president, over a year ago, if that was her decision. The fact that she still hasn't made an announcement (either way) is proof positive to me that she is definitely in.

If for some strange reason, she opted out of the race at this late date, it would ruin her credibility with even her most ardent supporters, to say nothing of everyone else.

Perhaps you don't understand the expectations that have been laid upon her. Many millions of Americans are frankly looking for her to be a revolutionary leader who slays the 100 year old beast of Socialism in this country, and helps us to restore our nation to its Founding Promise.

She has shown every indication of being that leader, and of being determined to do that job, so the potential let-down can hardly be overstated. It would be seen as one of the nation's most historic lost opportunities, and many would feel a profound loss of all hope for our future.

Believing that she could somehow go on being the right's American darling, and a political kingmaker, is absurd. Millions of backs would turn on her at once, if she abandoned what many see as a sacred trust.

The candidate? Maybe you weren't paying attention, but Palin recently remarked that she didn't see anyone out there who she is willing to endorse.

So, what candidate are you talking about? Rick Perry, perhaps? He doesn't meet the bar that she proposed several months back. West? He's a freshman House rep, and has said that he's not running. DeMint? He's a legislator, and she clearly indicated that she would like to see someone with executive experience.

Everyone else of note is already in the race, and she's ruled them out, so who could she possibly be talking about?

I'll end this. Sarah knows in her heart and mind that she is the only person who meets the bar that she set in that statement. There is no other. She will enter the race, probably by late summer, and go on to win the nomination handily. Whipping Zero's ass is a foregone conclusion.

Get used to saying President Palin.

I totally agree with Hayward’s article. I want Sarah to run not only because she drives the left totally wacko, but because she also gets those allegedly on our side as crazy and as wound up as those on the left.

Sarah reliably brings out the eternal malcontents’ inadequacies like glaring lights on a Christmas tree. They are driven by their deep resentment against her, and feel the need to compensate for their deficiencies by insulting and trashing her to balance their numerous negatives against her strong positives.

I hope she runs, as I’d love to see all those against Sarah going batty - a delicious feeling in itself, and a nice side benefit to our larger victory. ;-)

Before your flaming PDS misogyny melts the thin ice you are on, I suggest you find yourself in an AMC theater for a viewing of The Undefeated. If there are no showings in your area, I suggest you get a copy of Going Rogue: An American Life and read it. It is a theory of mine that those who are Sarah's severest critics have never read her books.

A team made with Palin and Perry is what has been called “The Dream Team.” They have a great respect of each other. I think they would be undefeatable. If both run, whoever wins the primary should select the other as their running mate.

If Sarah would be Perry’s VP, she could have 8 years to bring great influence to Washington DC. At the end of her position as VP, she would be President for 8 years. Sixteen years working to get this country back to its greatness as the beacon of liberty in the world would be a great blessing. I am hoping that Sarah Palin will crush the head of socialism that has cursed the lives of so many people through the ages. The scourge of this political disease has held back the potential of humanity in a bad way. I think we would have had a cure for cancer by this time if socialism had not held humans back as it does.
