Pish, Bill. You probably think murderers won’t buy or use a gun illegally, too.
In this case many of us find ourselves TOTALLY sympathetic to the daughter and NONE of us want to see this happen again ... but this is how the libs use us ... and in the end, this promotes a government that controls the people. I'm not defending this mother, she's as bad as it gets ... but don't make it worse in the long run with more "government control."
You either are a Conservative or not! It is an instance like this that tests your conservativism. IMHO
It’s a good law, they should pass it. The stupid murderous slut would be in jail now if there were that law. This dumbed down Jury could have found her guilty of that one, to bad it isn’t retroactive.
Good post!
I agree with you completely.
We all know this woman is most likely guilty, but this law won’t make her pay, it just paves the way for possible abuse of the citizenry.
I could see this law morphing into something bad easily.
“What do you mean? You didn’t call the authorities for over an hour? You were panicked and looking for yourself?”
“The stupid murderous slut would be in jail now if there were that law.”
What makes you think that? Who determines when, exactly, the child went missing? If a child lives alone with her mother, who’s keeping track of the child’s whereabouts? When does the missing-clock start ticking? The fact that some neighbor or some grandparent HASN’T seen the child isn’t evidence of the child’s absence. And that’s just the missing-side of this inane law. Add the same reasoning to the dead-side.
So Casey lies and says she saw the child just yesterday. That’s all this law will accomplish. Anyone with any common sense knows Casey killed her own child. She told lies to cover it up. So another lie isn’t going to be much of a hurdle to circumvent this new law.
Thank you!
That's what I was thinking ,too. Excuse me while I put on my Hard Hearted Hannah hat, but I grow weary of everytime there is some horror occurring there's a knee jerk reaction to legislate it. In some cases, it might be correct, but most times it's not.
There might be a few people stupid enough to think, “Whoops, I just killed Tom! I’d better call the police and report him ‘missing’ so I don’t risk a fine for failing to report it!”
You are correct. Send your thoughts to O’Reilly.....I know he’s hardheaded but perhaps, this will make sense to even him!
Yeah......if they are that stupid they won’t get away with the crime anyway. What a joke this new law is.
Would it make everyone happy if Casey Anthony got a $100 fine and three months’ probation for “Failure to Report”? And that’s if they could prove it.
Stupid, stupid, stupid idea.
Thanks for the common sense post. The media drives the emotions and we see the result of it. NOTHING good comes out of the media - yet, so many fall for it every time.
> letting emotion guide the legislative process
Emotion has also been guiding jurisprudence, so much so, that I do not think it can be correctly called jurisprudence anymore.
There are already laws against abuse, neglect, and murder.
If the state could not present sufficient evidence to convict on these charges, then that’s where the problem lies.
There is no need for yet another emotion-based law named after yet another unfortunate victim of stupidity and lust.
The only positive I can see coming from this would be the benefit to law enforcement. The child is found sooner, thus crime evidence is fresher, easier to determine cause of death, etc. rather than clues going cold week after week. So I can see law enforcement pushing for this. But I doubt it will result in protecting more children. Stupid idea.
If I was a liberal I could really feel good about this POS law but I’m it’s a stupid ideal
If you are going to murder your child put her in a garbage bag and dump her in a swampy wooded area, are ya really gonna obey THIS new law? I think not. I agree with you, it is a stupid idea.
...for the next baby she wants to kill?
..or the next Casey?....
Am I too simple...?
