Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) on Friday strongly suggested that members of Congress are making it difficult for President Obama to raise the debt ceiling because of his race.
"I do not understand what I think is the maligning and maliciousness [toward] this president,” said Jackson Lee, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus. “Why is he different? And in my community, that is the question that we raise. In the minority community that is question that is being raised. Why is this president being treated so disrespectfully? Why has the debt limit been raised 60 times? Why did the leader of the Senate continually talk about his job is to bring the president down to make sure he is unelected?”
Earlier in her speech, Jackson Lee said Obama has been targeted unlike any other president.
"I am particularly sensitive to the fact that only this president — only this one, only this one — has received the kind of attacks and disagreement and inability to work, only this one," said Jackson Lee from the House floor.
"Read between the lines," she continued. "What is different about this president that should put him in a position that he should not receive the same kind of respectful treatment of when it is necessary to raise the debt limit in order to pay our bills, something required by both statute and the 14th amendment?"
Jackson Lee concluded by saying that she hoped someone would step up and say that what appears obvious to her is not in fact true.
"I hope someone will say that what it appears to be is not in fact accurate," said Lee. "But historically it seems to be nothing more."
Umm, maybe they don't teach this in race-baiting school, but unelected refers to someone who has not been elected, such as one of Obama's 10,000 czars. We are trying to make sure he is not "reelected."

BTW - Her OTHER problem (among MANY) is that she has a real short memory or she’d recall the shameful treatment Liberals handed Bush daily, almost hourly!!!

Seriously, she lacks the mental capacity to come up with any other argument.
And the really sad part is, she is the “best and brightest” in her district.
I wouldn't be surprised if Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Olympus Mons, right next to where Armstrong landed) had some very nasty things to say about President Bush. In fact, I would be very surprised if she didn't.
So, at most, race is 38% of the problem. Obama is the other 62%
I'd assume they do like here in Indiana, load up the minorities and libs in a district where they can have a slam dunk candidate, but keep surrounding districts safer for R candidates.
Here in Indiana we had Julia Carson (who was functionally illiterate) for years until she died, and now her Black Muslim grandson Andre has "inherited" the seat for his lifetime.
Sheila Jackson Lee probably thinks that if it rains, its because she’s black. What this Democrat Representative doesn’t grasp is the enormous federal debt the U.S. is dealing with, a debt higher than it ever was in any previous administration. The 2010 election and recent polls show that the American people want the government spending stopped, even if that means not raising the federal debt ceiling. Sheila Jackson Lee understands none of that. She probably really believes that the Republicans are opposing Obama on this because he is a mulatto. There is a name for people like Sheila Jackson Lee. In the interest of decorum (and wanting to keep my membership on this website), I won’t use that word.
Black liberal Democrats carry to much baggage around to be in politics.
Sharpton, Jackson, Farrahkhan, Lee, Wright, - these are the same people that go to the ML King Day Rallies - and the next day go back to their racist and bigoted attitudes.

exactly right. I think most “racism” just comes from Black people not understanding the real motives behind things - and not seeing a motive, they attribute it to race.

She doesn’t represent all Texans. She represents one district of entitlement-minded liberals. Every state has districts like that.
