The White House on Wednesday declined to challenge an account in a new book that suggests that President Obama, in his campaign to overhaul American health care, mischaracterized a central anecdote about his mothers deathbed dispute with her insurance company.
During his presidential campaign and subsequent battle over a health care law, Mr. Obama quieted crowds with the story of his mothers fight with her insurer over whether her cancer was a pre-existing condition that disqualified her from coverage.
In offering the story as an argument for ending pre-existing condition exclusions by health insurers, the president left the clear impression that his mothers fight was over health benefits for medical expenses.
But in A Singular Woman: The Untold Story of Barack Obama's Mother, author Janny Scott quotes from correspondence from the presidents mother to assert that the 1995 dispute concerned a Cigna disability insurance policy and that her actual health insurer had apparently reimbursed most of her medical expenses without argument.

Great. You found it on msnbc and I just posted a thread where it’s on yahoo. Apparently, the msm honeymoon is over. The more it’s out there, the more sheeple will wake up.
It was a “White Lie”.
I remember hearing BO talk about his mother’s fight with the insurance carrier and thinking, what a POS, his friggin law degree from Harvard on the wall and he let’s his mother fight the insurance companies. Now he was lying about it. This guy is treating the country the same way black men treat their bastards, with empty promises and lies so he can screw some more.
Did Obama really know his mother? He was raised by his grandparents most of his life.
1. Who paid for that hospital bill for Aug.4, 1961?
2. We know President Obama's father was a very poor Kenyan immigrant student.
3. President Obama's mother was not working.
4. So, who paid the doctor and hospital bills?
5. KAPIOLANI HOSPITAL, THE 800 LB. GORILLA IN THE ROOM: It has been almost 3 months since President Obama released his Hawaii long form birth certificate to the public with great fanfare at a White House press conference on April 27, 2011, but yet, not a single word from KAPIOLANI officials confirming that indeed President Obama was born there on Aug. 4, 1961 like it says on President Obama's long form birth certificate. Why are hospital officials so silent?
6. OBAMA'S "OCTOBER" SURPRISE? Is President Obama waiting for just the right moment to release his Kapiolani Hospital records in order to AMBUSH the birther movement to win re-election in Nov. 2012? Is President Obama patiently waiting to spring his next "October Surprise" in order to ambush birthers like he AMBUSHED birthers with his recent April 27, 2011 "October Surprise" when he suddenly released his long form birth certificate to great fanfare?
7. I say this: If President Obama waits too long for his next "OCTOBER SURPRISE", he will still lose a lot of VOTES on election day Nov. 2012, because a lot of VOTERS will be so angry that President Obama waited so long to release his Kapiolani records that they will VOTE against Obama in Nov. 2012.
8. Why won't President Obama give Kapiolani officials permission to allow reporters to examine his birth records of Aug. 4, 1961? What is President Obama hiding?
9. Could President Obama be hiding the fact that no one paid for his mother's Kapiolani hospital stay because she was never in the hospital on Aug. 4, 1961 as President Obama claims?
10. Again, who paid for President Obama's mother's stay at Kapiolani hospital on Aug. 4, 1961, if she was ever there?
11. Was it an insurance company, even though Obama's father could barely make ends meet, and President Obama's mother was not working during her pregnancy?
12. Did President Obama's grandparents somehow pay the hospital bills, that is, was President Obama's mother on their health insurance policy, even though she was supposedly married at the time? Did the grandparents pay for the doctor and hospital bills in cash out of their own pockets? Did friends of the family pay for the hospital bills?
13. Welfare Department : Did the welfare department pay for it? Enquiring minds want to know.
The mythology of Ayers’ books says Stanley Ann is his mother.
Any actual “evidence” of who was his mother is mighty thin.
