QUARTZSITE, Ariz. - A state of emergency has been declared in the small western Arizona town of Quartzsite after a video of a woman being arrested during a public city council meeting went viral and prompted death threats to council members.
Jennifer "Jade" Jones, a blogger and vocal critic of local government, was delivering remarks during the public comment session of a June 28 city council meeting when she was interrupted.
A video posted on YouTube shows council members interrupting her and asking her to leave or be escorted out.
The mayor of Quartzsite, Ed Foster, is heard telling officers to leave Jones alone. "Officer, that woman has the floor you are violating my rules of order," says Foster.
In the end Jones is restrained and escorted out of the council chambers. On her blog she says her arm was injured in the fracas.
The video has sparked public outrage from some who call it a violation of Jones' first amendment rights.
Since it went public, Mayor Foster has been ousted and Quartzsite Police Chief Jeff Gilbert has taken control of the town.

Martial law?................
Pitchforks, torches, tar, feathers.
It’s about time.
Maybe the people are waking up.
Sure hope so.
If he’s facing a recall, he isn’t “ousted” is he?
Wonder if any local FReepers can shed more light on this situation?
I’d sure like to hear the backstory on this - “Jade” Jones sounds like she might be a Leftie-Loon professional whiner....
> Martial law?................
No, that would involve the military.
This is usurpation, clear, plain and simple.
The Police Chief is a totalitarian-statist criminal.
He should be arrested by the citizens, stripped of his badge and authority, tarred, featherd, and run out of town.
> Jade Jones sounds like she might be a Leftie-Loon
> professional whiner....
That’s not the point.
She has a right to be heard. She had the floor. It was a point of order. The selectmen and police chief had her physically assaulted and charged with trumped-up charges, just as they would do in any totalitarian-statist gulag.
They are the criminals, regardles of whether Jones is a crank.
I tried to watch some of the video. I can’t really tell what the hell is going on.
Why was Foster ousted if he was telling the police to leave Jones alone? Something really stinks here. The article said Foster was trying to clean up the corruption.
The Police Chief is a totalitarian-statist criminal.
Found this, sounds like Chief Gilbert is a local dictator-minded type:

Quartzite is one of the looniest towns on the planet. To be termed “eccentric” there, you’d be off the charts most every where else.
Thank you. Going there to read now. Had seen the article on WND a couple days ago, as well as the YouTube video. This is very disturbing. And not at all unimaginable if the worng people are in charge, especially in small town USA.
Any police officer who would obey an illegal command is a criminal. I don’t care what he looks like or what “side” he’s on.
If he acts against Constitutional Liberty, he is in breach of his Oath of Office and is a statist criminal.

If you’ve ever been there, you’ll have an idea of just how testy folks can get living in a desolate, if not flatout hellish landscape littered for miles around with hundreds, nay thousands of large motorhomes peopled by Canadians and other northern freaks too cheap to pay camping fees.
The best meal in town is a Mexican breakfast slathered in salsa verde.
And it’s July - I’m surprised no one was shot!
It makes me wish I was retired and could travel as I pleased. It would be fun to tent up in the desert and watch it unfold.

One of the strangest places I have ever seen!
