Susan Feinberg, an associate professor of management and global business at Rutgers University, caused a stir in the left-wing blogosphere over the weekend with her account of witnessing House Budget Committee chairman Paul Ryan drinking a glass of $350-a-bottle wine at an upscale restaurant near the Capitol.

Feinberg confronted Ryan, accusing him of hypocrisy for drinking an expensive wine while advocating reduced spending for Medicare and Medicaid.

Ryan told TPM that his two dinner-mates had ordered the wine, and that he, Ryan, didn't know what it cost and drank only one glass.

Ryan's dining companions, one of whom was a wealthy hedge-fund manager, ordered two bottles of the $350 wine. Ryan, by his own account, drank one glass but nevertheless paid for one of the bottles.

First, the photo she snapped of Ryan and two men sitting a few tables away appeared to be taken from her own table, and on that table was a bottle of wine.... the wine was a Thierry et Pascale Matrot 2005 Meursault, which is $80 per bottle at Bistro Bis.

They were spending their own money.
How is that hypocrisy?
Socialist think our money is their money.
Meanwhile...Ms Feinburg...a tenured hack is on the payroll of the people of New Jersey who pay her somewhere in the area of a hundred grand a year because she is a tenured radical witch...with no accountability to anyone.
Who is doing the greater evil here?
She won’t talk anymore because its dawning on her that the more that comes out, the more everyone realizes that this is simply a story of a drunken busy-body who made an ass out of herself while she was half in the bag.
She said it as a joke.
move along, nothing to see here.
I would have spit a mouthful of wine right in her damn face...
I am not worried about the wine. I’m worried about the hedge fund managers he was wining and dining with.
You have to picture the scene, though. You're eating dinner and some drunk old hag staggers up to you and starts demanding to know how much your wine cost. I think I'd burst out laughing.
Man it would have been great to snap a photo of that!
So he spent 3x what she did on wine. But let the evidence show that, she spends 10-20x what I do on a bottle of wine. She can STFU.
Not if you're a public figure you wouldn't. She surely deserved it, but it would have to come from another, and not the elected official. The Left would love to have a ruling class member spitting on a lower echelon servant. It won't play well anywhere, and Ryan is too important to conservatives to fall for such a setup.
I wonder what her thoughts are on eating $100-per-serving wagyu steak on the taxpayer’s dime.
The public servant was spending money that came from his public servant’s salary. We’re paying our pols way too much if they can afford $300+/bottle booze. Not to mention the fact that, to my mind, a guy dumb enough to pay that price for bloody grape juice doesn’t inspire a whole lotta trust when it comes to spending other people’s money wisely.
Mine comes in a box
from Costco
Ryan should have NEVER explained anything to these goons...just left it out there...sane people know the truth.
The drunk hag is not talking because she is probably still sleeping it off.
America's Ruling Class -- And the Perils of Revolution By Angelo M. Codevilla
Hows about a pox on both parties' members of the ruling class.
