Palin Plots Her Next Move (Newsweek released article early because of high demand)
Newsweek ^ | Sunday July 10, 2011 | Peter Boyer

Posted on 07/10/2011 1:13:27 PM PDT by Bigtigermike

'I believe that I can win a national election,' Sarah Palin declared one recent evening, sitting in the private dining room of a hotel in rural Iowa. The occasion for her visit to quintessential small-town America was a gathering of the faithful that would have instantaneously erupted into a fervent campaign rally had she but given the word. Instead, it had been another day on the non–campaign trail, this one capped by a sweet victory: she had just attended the premiere of a glowingly positive documentary about her titled The Undefeated.

“The people of America are desperate for positive change, and deserving of positive change, to get us off of this wrong track,” she told me during a conversation that lasted late into the night and, inevitably, kept returning to the subject that has titillated the media and spooked Republican presidential contenders for months: her political intentions. “I’m not so egotistical as to believe that it has to be me, or it can only be me, to turn things around,” she said. “But I do believe that I can win.”

[....]

If Palin doesn’t end up running, the reason will be simple, she said. “Family. If it came down to the family just saying, ‘Please, Mom, don’t do this,’ then that would be the deal-killer for me, because your family’s gotta be in it with you.”

[...]

The mainstream press is becoming less and less relevant,” she said, adding that she would have no hesitation in shunning media outlets she does not trust.

“I would say no to those who have lied about me. There is no need to reward bad behavior. I’ve learned. You know, once bitten, twice shy. I have learned.”

“And which repub would the media NOT attack?”

None, but can you name a candidate that has been relentlessly and viciously assaulted to the degree of Sarah Palin?

Indeed. I'm waiting for that huge election fraud around the corner. Obama likes being king too much. He is going to make Al 'Chad' Gore look honest. There is an aura about Zero (not in some physic sense).

Every time I see him, I just get this feeling. A really bad one. We'll read a post and describe someone as evil (rightfully so in most cases), but this goes beyond that.

SO they accused her of complicit to murder and go after her & FAMILY negatively for over two years in a way like no one since Reagan before becoming President and now after all of that they (MSM) will present her ragged to the public and say, she can be the one by pumping her up?

That’s nuts and makes no sense!

She is prepared, we have article and speeches on her tackling every issue out there, she has presented her on policy on military engagement that no one else has done, She actually cut the government in Alaska, she got a surplus and she reduced earmarks that came across her desk by 90% if I recalled correctly. Just saying that she isn’t ready doesn’t make it so

“Now how could it possible be any worse for her and her family than it already has these past three years.”

You may just see.

For Newsweek this is about sales and access. Governor Palin has made it clear you will talk to her on her terms. No other Republican candidate has the ability to demand and get that consideration. That is the type thing that results in a balanced article like this one.

Palin is the only candidate willing to speak the truth about our financial situation.
Such an approach would require some drastic spending cuts, Republicans. Palin said bring it on. “There is so much spending that is not a priority for national security or for those constitutionally mandated services and accepted services that the public wants to see their federal government provide—take care of those things,” she said. “Everything else is going to have to wait, and that’s just reality.” She would like to revamp, or even eliminate, whole agencies—the Department of Energy, for example—as Reagan once spoke of doing. “That’s the kind of grand reform that is very, very difficult to do. But it can be done.”

Seriously, has any other potential candidate laid out the truth of what will need to be done in order for us to be fiscally solvent as Palin has?

You are being naive,,, if any of them get the nomination, they will get the same treatment. they have attacked her because SHE is the one that they are terrified of. She most represents what they hate.

If it isnt her be prepared for;
Mitt, the weird mormon draft dodger, millionaire investment banker? It’d be 24/7 “Big Love” rereuns. Bachmanm,, stupid, gaff prone, no executive experience, 25 kids,, make porn illegal,,,etc. Perry will be Bush Bush Bush. People arent in a Texas mood after Bush. You name em,, they already have their saturday nite live clobe ready to mock them mercilessly.

I am TOTALLY all-in for Piper as President Palin’s press secretary.

Not that it matters at all but I think that John McCain would, too. Every time, I saw McCain with the Palin family, he seemed really drawn to Piper. She seems to have a really engaging personality.

“You are being naive,,,”

I don’t think so, I’ve been around for a lot of campaigns starting with Goldwater. I have never seen the gut vitriol and hate from the left that is being spewed daily from the left.

Have you?

I just don’t want to see her destroyed

I suspect that Grizzly Huntin Mama can handle herself quite fine. She has already demonstrated that she can handle more media abuse than anyone in American history.

Your post:
For the record, I do not have a preference for a conservative nominee. As far as I'm concerned, they're all sub-par for various reasons.

Later you specifically include Sarah:
I see support for her as a lost cause because of her unwillingness to do the work necessary to cure her negatives, ...

So you do not support any of the current and potential GOP field (including Rick Perry/Chris Christie in the mix)? Then who would you have run for whom you could express a preference?

No it doesn't have to be you but i don't see anyone better on the landscape.....And yes you can win Sarah. You'll pump up the base so much it will be inevitable.

Same as they do to all republicans.
Remember how they trashed Reagan (all the he's stupid, crazy stuff)... won twice
W they just politically killed... won twice

We can't run from the political elites anymore and the minion MSM.

it's time to fight back. She's continuing to hold her own ground and not cave to the pressure.

She's THE real conservative leader we've all been waiting for.....
