Man falls behind on payments, mortgage company has home trashed
WTSP ^ | 6/30/11 | Mike Deeson

Imagine coming back to your home after being away a few weeks and finding the locks changed and the home trashed. That's what happened to Chris Boudreau of Brooksville.

Boudreau showed us the home, which was stripped bare.

Walking through the living room, he tells us "I used to have a couch, a sofa, a couple of end tables, a TV, DVD player, tapes and cabinet... but they are now gone."

It happened after 21 Mortgage Corporation in Knoxville, which is Boudreau's lender, hired a local company to do the job.

Don't the Aliens put you back in bed the same night like nothing ever happened?

Let's hypnotize the guy and ask him why he doesn't pay his bills.

Of course you could be right, but as I said in a previous post him being behind on his mortgage allows the lender to commit any crime they wish against him. Being behind on your mortgage means you have lost all your rights and any protections the law provides.

I can just picture this guy asking his wife, "Should we pay the mortgage, fix the brakes on the work truck, vacation at Graceland for three weeks or buy some more meth?"

Just pay the damn mortgage and they won’t part that big green dumpster in the dirt driveway.

So you agree the man has no legal rights? And the lender has carte blanche to do anything they want, commit any crime they wish against the guy?

“So you agree the man has no legal rights? And the lender has carte blanche to do anything they want, commit any crime they wish against the guy?”

Exactly.

If I were running that mortgage company, I would have ordered a crew to go to there, put the wheels back on the house and haul it to the nearest repo lot.

Because the lender says it is. Once you are behind in your mortgage you have no rights and no protections of the law. Once behind the lender is no longer subject to the law and may commit any act they wish against you.

Maybe they can kidnap his wife or kids and hold them until he pays up? Maybe force him to sell a organ. I wonder why they just didn’t take him out some where and put a bullet in him and save themselves the bad publicity?

I don't think either I or Trumandogz were condoning the illegal (?) actions of the Lender.

We were just pointing out how this guy made his bed so to speak. Common sense would dictate that leaving town for a few weeks while you are months behind in your Mortgage payment is not the wisest move. This guy is obviously not Mr. Responsibility.

Didn't the guy have a neighbor or friend checking on house while being gone that long? Seems a bit odd to me.

I'm sure Trumandogz will respond with his own viewpoint on your post.

I own rental property, but have never fully considered the selling tenant’s organs concept.

I’ll have to run that one by my lawyer.

Sorry, but I see no evidence of that in any of your post even this one you say 'well the guy made his bed' so he made his bed and gave up any rights and protections. Isn't that what you are saying?

What useful work output do these mortgage companies render? Individual credit rating was never the intention of FICO when it was being drafted in the late sixties, which drops a person's credit score for (gasp!) paying off accounts (i.e. doing what is honest).

There is an entire industry devoted to doing, in essence, nothing while those of us who want to innovate and improve peoples' lives, produce something tangible and useful, and live honestly, who play by the rules and assume (often wrongly) that success and advancement are based on merit, that compensation should bear at least a loose correlation to productivity - we're left out. We're not part of the "in crowd."

I view the entire field of finance with much contempt. I respect those who actually produce something useful - ideas, but esp. engineering and the hard sciences. Guess I'm weird.

I bet there is more to the story at the foreclosure proceeding had already been initiated or completed.

And while I cannot not confirm or cite, I believe that in some states, foreclosing on a mobile home is much easier than foreclosing on a real house.

Perhaps, they were just making an attempt to repo the double wide.

You know the sad part though I am sure that you were attempting to be flippant with your answer I truly think deep down there is part (a sizable part) of you that would really want to do it.
