Any candidate for president can fall victim to occasional stumbles, lapses, gaffes and clunkers. But Mitt Romney has a shot at raising ineptitude to an art form.
The other day, he had to answer a question about how the economy has fared under the current administration. Before he was done, though, Romney managed to give the impression that if he dove off a dock, he'd miss the water. He also undermined his chief assets in the campaign: a supposed mastery of economic issues and a reputation for competence.
Over and over, the former Massachusetts governor has accused President Barack Obama of taking a weak economy and applying leeches. Announcing his candidacy last month, Romney said, "When he took office, the economy was in recession. He made it worse." In a June debate, he said, "He didn't create the recession, but he made it worse and longer."
This is not strictly factual, since the downturn officially ended two years ago, but the charge could be defended as faithful to the reality of what Americans are experiencing. The number of people employed in nonfarm jobs has dropped by some 2.5 million under this administration, which makes the recovery feel like a cruel fraud.
Romney might ask: Who are you going to believe about the recession? The National Bureau of Economic Research, which says it's over, or your neighbor, who's been unemployed for three years?
But when Romney was asked last week about the accuracy of his contention that Obama worsened the recession, he did not claim to be invoking a truth that trumps mere facts. Instead, he denied making such an assertion. "I didn't say that things are worse," he insisted. "What I said was that the economy hasn't turned around."

Romney covets the WH so much he’ll say anything at anytime-he’s a jellyfish.
Remember how many times democrats called the growing but sluggish economy under W a recession, long before we actually had a recession? Allstate even ran a national TV commercial with the clean, articulate, military and even presedential African-American actor (played a President on 24 and a colonel on The Unit) sympathizing with the economic plight of average Americans "If this isn't a recession, it sure seems like one..."

This is a sound bite and very effective and very true. Romney isn't flip-flopping, but he does need a sound bite follow up.
The economy is improving despite the best efforts of Obama to hobble the American people.
If pressed further, he should explain that the economy is more than raw numbers. Over regulation, micro management, top down control, and constant changes hurt the economy. The numbers may be better, but the economic environment is worse. Then he can repeat his great sound bite...

Romney reminds me of a slick, smiling 60's TV game show host. Kind of sounds like one too.
This article is a plant: part of the current attack on Romney by the Obama White House.
This is becoming standard procedure for the Democrats: they attack the Republican front-runner, or the one they most fear, using plants, to make it look as if he is not acceptable with the Republican movement. It is a variation of a “false flag” operation. They hope to stop the candidate they most fear, or to leave his base confused, and his candidacy weakened, and cost him much money, before the general election even begins.
It is a tactic especially useful when there are many potential candidates. They know that if they pull this off a few times, people will give up on all the potential opponents to Obama.
This same tactic has been used within several states recently. They even run adds pretending to be by conservatives, which really attack conservatives. It is probably all paid for by a Soros front, but I am only speculating.
In actuality, the Republicans have numerous candidates, every one of whom is better qualified than Obama was when he ran and won — and he is less qualified now than he was then!
Never forget that Obama is the most unqualified President in history, with absolutely no real-world work experience of any significance. He is a person of suspicious associations, and uncertain origin. I don’t think that even he knows fully who he is. Forget about the birth certificate: I would like to see the DNA of Obama, because I don’t even think that he is the son of that Kenyan guy.

Good point. However, do you think voters are a tad smarter now that they've had a taste of Hope and Change? Man, I hope so or our Republic is doomed.

While the libs may use this procedure, it is NOT employed against Mitty. He is anything but 'feared' by them. They want him as their 'opponent'.
