Father spoke of having Obama adopted

In the spring of 1961, President Obama’s father revealed a plan for his unborn son that might have changed the course of American political history.

The elder Barack H. Obama, a sophomore at the University of Hawaii, had come under scrutiny by federal immigration officials who were concerned that he had more than one wife. When he was questioned by the school’s foreign student adviser, the 24-year-old Obama insisted that he had divorced his wife in his native Kenya. Although his new wife, Ann Dunham, was five months pregnant with their child - who would be called Barack Obama II - Obama declared that they intended to put their child up for adoption.

“Subject got his USC wife ‘Hapai’ [Hawaiian for pregnant] and although they were married they do not live together and Miss Dunham is making arrangements with the Salvation Army to give the baby away,’’ according to a memo describing the conversation with Obama written by Lyle H. Dahling, an administrator in the Honolulu office of what was then called the US Immigration and Naturalization Service.

Obama, the Subject, and his USC, or United States citizen, wife, obviously, did not put their baby up for adoption. Whether the young couple actually considered such a step, or the elder Obama made the story up in order to appease immigration officials who at the time were considering his request for an extension of his stay in the United States, is unclear. Family members on both sides of the marriage now say they never heard any mention of adoption.

But his statement provides a unique glimpse into the relationship between the president’s parents and the fragility of his connection to the father whom he would little know.

One wonders if the untold story being implied here is whether Obama’s parents were considering an abortion.

It’s sad, really. One would think that an individual who probably came close to the chopping block as a fetus would be sympathetic to other unborn lives in similar situations.

The following year, Obama left his small family in Honolulu and headed to Harvard University to pursue a doctorate in economics.

Except that the "small family" was in Seattle, not Honolulu.

Interesting how the reporter of this piece refers to information that was blacked out in redaction on the copy of Obama Sr.'s immigration file that has been made public. In the public version, the talk of the Salvation Army does not appear.

This version actually supports my theory that Obama Sr wanted SAD to abort little Barry, just like it appears later happened with the high school girl Obama Sr. apparently got pregnant in Boston while at Harvard. I doubt he would have told the INS that he was encouraging SAD to kill the baby in the womb, so the story that he was encouraging her to get rid of the baby through adoption sounds a bit better.

So if Obama Sr. wanted her to get rid of the baby, and I would expect that her Marxist parents also probably had no problem with abortion or giving the baby away, did SAD run away somewhere in order to have and keep the baby in spite of the wishes of Obama Sr. and her parents?

Did she go to Seattle in order to find support among high school friends or other relatives for keeping the baby in defiance of husband and parents? If so, where did she have the baby - did she have it across the border in a Canadian hospital as an indigent or in a home for unwed mothers?

Or did the reckless and headstrong young SAD go all the way to Kenya to find Obama's family and try to enlist them on the side of convincing Obama Sr. to keep his first born son (as far as she knew) and not get rid of it?

If she went somewhere else to have the baby in defiance of her husband and parents, it would explain the apparent shenanigans with the long form birth certificate.

Under this theory, SAD's mother registered the birth in Hawaii by submitting an affidavit of home birth after learning that SAD had gone ahead somewhere else with having and keeping the baby. Years later, Obama II, concerned about showing the world such a fishy document, comes up with an apparent hospital-generated long form birth certificate to satisfy his constitutional eligibility.

I searched further to find out the proper use of the suffix “II”. It
seems that this is used primarily when the child has the exact name of
another relative, but not his father, or when there are three family
members (father/son/grandson) with the same name:

“The designation of Sr. or Jr. to distinguish between father and son
with all the exact same names (first, middle, & last), can be replaced
by the Roman numerals, I and II, respectively, when the grandson has
the exact same names. The grandson will then have a III after his
name. The grandfather and father can continue to use Sr. and Jr.,
respectively, or the numerals.

“However, using the “II” (not Jr.) often means a man does not have his
father’s name, but another relative such as his grandfather or uncle.

“Of course, royalty or other ceremonial title, would always have the I
or II, rather than Sr. or Jr. to designate the line.”

Generally, a decision to give up a baby for adoption is not spur of the moment reactions. A discussion begins months before the Obama was born.

When Obama was born, the parent aren't even living together. By the time the child is five, the parents are divorced and the mother has remarried.

Lolo Soetoro becomes Obama's stepfather. After an adoption, Lolo Soetoro becomes his father with a legal name change from Barack Hussein Obama to Barry Soetoro. The Original Long Form BC is sealed and archived. A Barry Soetoro COLB with a "date filed" backdated to Aug. 8, 1961 is created and filed with the DoH vital records.



In 1970, Barry Soetoro returns to the US alone. A month later his mother returns to the US without a valid US Passport after she informed the US State Department she intended to stay in Indonesia indefinitely.

Barack Hussein Obama Sr. returns to Hawaii to visit with his son. BHO Sr. complains his son was adopted without his consent. BHO Sr. is restored as the paternal parent and Barry Soetoro's name is changed back to Barack Hussein Obama II. The Court Orders the Hawaii DoH to create the Barack Hussein Obama II COLB.

The adoption annulment changed Obama's name and his paternal parent listed on his birth record, but it did not change his immunization record, school record or his citizenship. BHO II is still an Indonesian citizen living in America as a Permanent Resident Alien under the custody of a Refugee Resettlement Organization located in Connecticut.
