Indoctrination at U.S. Colleges

Email Message from FIRE President Greg Lukianoff to FIRE Supporters, June 29, 2011 June 29, 2011

[Snip]

Today, I want to share with you a startling story that one of our interns, {Snip].. recently told me, so you can hear [snip].. what college students are facing at the places that are supposed to be educating [Snip]..-but that are [snip] too often indoctrinating them. [snip]........ Here is Rachel's story:

My first year at DePauw University, I had a great experience living in the dorms, largely thanks to my resident assistant (RA) Patrick.

[Snip]

However, throughout the year the joy I found in my position was overshadowed by something more sinister. I grew disheartened and eventually disgusted by the Office of Campus Living and Community Development. Its paternalistic views along with its blatant disregard for free thought, individuality, and freedom of speech and conscience led me to seek out FIRE.

During the [Snip]....RA training events, my fellow RAs and I were lectured repeatedly about white privilege, racism, sexism, and every other "ism." My peers who questioned the information were silenced immediately or heckled for their refusal to accept the dogmatic views of our superiors. We were told that "human" was not a suitable identity, but that instead we were first "black," "white," or "Asian"; "male" or "female"; and, perhaps most alarming of all, "heterosexual" or "queer." We were forced to act like bigots and spout off stereotypes while being told that that was what we were really thinking deep down. [Snip]

When my residents arrived, I was required to escort them through a mandatory interactive live performance, "Tunnel of Oppression." [Snip]

I am a supporter of FIRE, even when I don't always agree with a cause they have joined. In this instance, I join with them in condemning what is being done at Depauw University. It is clearly NOT a place of "higher learning".

The experiences this FIRE Intern relates are NOT isolated events, they are common across America's college campuses.

If you want to know many of these issues as they come up, FIRE is willing to send you Email alerts on all their activities.

This mandatory racist and sexist group terrorism at colleges is flat-out evil. It utterly destroys sanity and honesty in students when they are the most vulnerable, just starting college. It’s designed to do one thing: create a permanent slave class of absolutely terrified people permanantly obedient to the control of the communist group.

This sh!t makes me smolder like few other things. Those behind this ongoing conscience raping need to be...

...stopped.

Sounds like something right out of Mao Tse Tung’s “Little Red Book”.

The quality of education at any of these jokes of higher education is inversely proportional to the amount of time spent with these cretin-inspired injections of sewage.

There is a solution: simply cut funding for any and all public institutions that perpetrate this garbage.

Let ‘em wail. What else can they do? Really?

Name one thing a lib arts prof could do that anyone would pay for.

I wonder, with so many older people going back to school these days, if these thugs will be able to get away with these tactics for much longer. I would love for one of these no nothings to try to tell me what I am really thinking deep down.

Well, I'm an older student and I've done it several times. Usually leaves the new (liberal) professors speechless.

I went to college in the early 80s after six years in the Air Force, holding a TS clearance and daily TS intel briefings.

When any of my professors started to use false data I would engage them (never divulging classified). At least back then they would listen to me and mostly concede the argument after I gave them the real facts.

I wonder what would happen to me if I did that now?

You’d probably get yelled and screamed at, and your grades would be systematically reduced, even in classes where the professor didn’t give a fig.

so please, for everyone’s sakes

use your personal Email contact lists, and whatever other web-sites you post on

to pass the link to this item from FIRE to as many other people as you can

it would be good to also add the link Westbrook provided for Accuracy in Academia as well.
