TSA warns airlines of 'human bombs' By: Jennifer Epstein July 6, 2011 10:50 AM EDT
Transportation security officials are warning airlines on Wednesday that human bomb terrorists may try to use surgically implanted explosives to blow up planes.
Though there is no intelligence about a specific plot, the Transportation Security Administration is nonetheless urging domestic and international carriers to be aware of the potential threat.
The warnings are part of an effort to provide greater insights into recent intelligence indicating the continued interest of terrorists to target aviation, TSA press secretary Nick Kimball said in a statement.
Due to the significant advances in global aviation security in recent years, terrorist groups have repeatedly and publicly indicated interest in pursuing ways to further conceal explosives, he added.
A U.S. security official told POLITICO that the threat is seen as more likely to come from overseas rather than domestically but we are taking precautionary steps both internationally and here in the U.S.
As security measures become more sophisticated, terrorists have sought out new ways to conceal explosives, and surgically implanted bombs are one of the latest tactics that terrorists are believed to be trying to use.
In a memo sent to Britains transportation department, the TSA said the U.S. government has information indicating doctors have offered to help extremists surgically implant explosive devices in humans and animals for terrorist attacks, the Daily Mirror reported Wednesday. The memo notes that airports dont have one surefire way to screen for the bombs.

Just when you thought they didn’t need to scan you any more intrusively...
I call BS
They just want to be able to grope and photograph and depants white grandmothers
Perhaps this would be more convincing if it was released by the Ministry of Truth.
And now we can expect to be stripped & have our operation scars probed by the TSA...
Does this mean EVEN MORE invasive TSA searches? That’s a level of groping that deserves at least dinner and a movie.
What an amature that shoe bomber was ...
The TSA could easily counter this threat......simply ban all humans and/or animals from air travel.
So they implant a bomb in Fluffy, stow him in a crate in cargo, and Ahmed in coach sets it off with his cell.
Cheers.
as far as I am concerned a central function of TSA is to accustom americans to dealings with fedgov where the citizen has NO rights, and there is NO accountability mechanism in place to deal with abuse of power by tsa in 99% of cases, and even then only if recorded (which they may ban).
... so we will therefore redouble our efforts to more intrusively scan, probe, and violate US citizens, especially small children and feeble senior citizens.
I’d be much more afraid of someone near the airport with a shoulder fired rocket, or .50 Cal machine gun. I’m actually quite surprised that such a thing hasn’t yet happened(that we know of).
This is just an attempt to scare off state legislatures that may be considering criminalizing TSA patdowns.
One can only imagine the goop caused by a faulty explosive whereupon detonation, only the blasting cap explodes!!!
EEEEEEeeeeewwww!
Who’s going to the terrorists victory party tonight.
This worked well for 7 years.
Conventional law enforcement does not work as well with terrorists as it does with shop lifters.
We HAD something on each of these dudes...and did NOTHING....BECAUSE WE HAVE A MUSLIM PRESIDENT.
Let's go back...We were notifie directly by the father of the panty bomber...not once but twice. Maybe that one should be laid at the feet of HUMA the Muslim....
BS. This is only to further their intimidation agenda.
They would like to force *everyone* to be scanned.
Also, note the timing of the announcement. Comes on the heels of the PR disaster of the poopy diapers. That is not a coincidence.
And all of this from the people that refuse to look at the prime suspects of terrorism.
