LL: Out of all the GOP Presidential candidates right now, do think any of them can be a formidable opponent to President Obama? You have mentioned former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty on Squawk Box that you liked him.
Do you think him backing off of "Obamneycare" was a political misstep? What about Texas Governor Rick Perry? Many GOP supporters tell me the field right now is not exciting and they are waiting for Perry to jump in.
DA: President Obama will be a weak candidate in 12, running for reelection in the weakest economy since the Great Depression; but his coalition will be determined to hold on to power. The strongest candidate for the Republicans will be someone who provides a bold, principled defender of freedom, economic growth, and limited, constitutional government.
I think Governors Romney and Huntsman, and Speaker Gingrich couldnt win because of their support for the health care mandate and energy mandates, for example. Governor Pawley did miss a chance in the debate by not sticking to his "Obamneycare" line. The activists I talk to are interested to learn more about Governor Perry. I live in Texas, and we have a solid economy down here that produces jobs. He's got an opportunity. And so does Governor Christy. Youd be surprised how often his name comes up.
People appreciate how he is a straight shooter and is bold in addressing problems.

Tell me more. Do you have a link to that information?
My info was just a comment that Mark Levin made but no details were given.
I put the link to Freedom Works so FReepers could look at their site.
Other comments with LINKS to information welcome.
Below is an excellent article about how conservatives cower, flinch and backdown when called names by the Left (and we need to knock that off) and more.
http://www.americanthinker.com/2011/07/the_education_of_a_compassionate_conservative.html
National Review editor Rich Lowry doesnt seem to care much for Texas Governor Rick Perry. In a recent essay entitled The Rise of Uncompassionate Conservatism Lowry admonishes Gov. Perry for stomping all over [compassionate conservatism] with cowboy boots emblazoned with the words Freedom and Liberty. Lowry, who considers Gov. Perry the Republican noncandidate flavor of the week, aches for the luminous days when George Bush won over the center as well as the right with his signature insight into the wonders of compassionate conservatism.
For Lowry, Gov. Perrys unadulterated doctrine only appeals to the doctrinaire and simply proves that Perry has been spending too much time at Federalist Society seminars. So instead of educating his readers concerning the false dichotomy between being a compassionate conservative and being, well, Rick Perry, Lowrys commentary only proves that he, like Bush, has swallowed to some extent that most ingenious of all leftist philosophical creations: that compassion can most effectively be sold as an organized, planned government thingy......
Nice finesse by Armey. Changed the subject when asked about Perry.
That's why I won't trust anyone from Texas running for national office. You can see how effective GW-II was in stopping illegals.
Dick Armey.
Barney Frank gets all excited every time he hears that name.
What state has produced someone you'd trust for national public office?
I’m sorry, I don’t get your joke.
Barney Frank gets all excited every time he hears that name.
I'll never see Armey's name the same way again.
Texans are circling the wagons for one of their own.
Real big surprise.
Thanks to GWB for the $12 Trillion debt he left.
You are alive and well because of W’s prosecution of the war with Al Queda
Your backbiting is inexcusable. Your sour grapes will choke you.
One wonders if you are a trollish Rat
Who would you campaign for in the GOP Primary?
How’s your book coming along — the one you’re writing about God?
Rick Perry = Karl Rove, GW Bush, Newt Gingrich, Dick Armey, Grover Norquist redux.
Bleh.
THANK YOU for the link:
Armey went on to say:
“......Armey said this is a nation of immigrants and if you love America, love freedom and if you will work and pay taxes, you should be welcome in the country.
The former majority leader, who is now chairman of FreedomWorks and heavily involved in the Tea Party movement, said the INS is deformed and dysfunctional.
They way they treat these folks is unbelievably rude and callous and cruel. Fix that agency, make it do its job, make it do its job in a humane fashion and then you can control the borders, he said.
Armey also said the Republican Party is the most naturally talented party at losing its natural constituents in the history of the world.
This party was born with the emancipation proclamation and cant get a black vote to safe its life. How do they do that? [end quote]
Ok, so Perry officially has the RINO endorsement crowd locked up!
Like that will win dog catcher, in a year where the voters are tired of same-ol-politics as usual.
Which Texans? About 75% of Texas conservatives who post to this site are against a Perry nomination.
I, for one, will not vote for Perry, unless he's the eventual nominee. We can do better, and I trust that we will.
