President Barack Obama is attempting to block the execution in Texas on Thursday of a Mexican man because it would breach an international convention and do "irreparable harm" to US interests.
The White House has asked the US supreme court to put the execution of Humberto Leal Garcia on hold while Congress passes a law that would prevent the convicted rapist and murderer from being put to death along with dozens of other foreign nationals who were denied proper access to diplomatic representation before trials for capital crimes.

How much do you want to bet this child murderer and rapist lied about his immigration status at the time?
Also, I don’t get the logic behind the death penalty being off the table becasue he was “denied his rights”.
If we buy Obama’s ridiculous argument and if his rights were truly violated, then shouldn’t he walk free? If there would not have been enough evidence to convict him, if he had been informed of his right to contact the consulate, shouldn’t the conviction be overturned and this pervert-murderer be released on the south side of the Mexican border?
He should either be executed or released and deported. I vote for executed.

Not gonna fly, El’ George Busho tried the exact same thing over a Mexican on death row several years ago and the Supreme Court said that treaties only obligated the federal government, not states. Long story short, the Mexican got sent to the great taco stand in the sky.

No doubt in my mind that he lied about his status, he's been in this country since he was 2 years old, Lying about his citizenship was a way of life.
All this poser asshole has to do is issue a Presidential Pardon. But, mister loser-I-can’t-be-blamed-anybody-but-me, can’t have a diddy like this on his record - it might be used against him in his next perfunctory (in his mind) election.
If Hussein is really concerned, then he should seal the border so these poor illegal aliens are unable to enter OUR Country and commit crimes for which they'll be punished.
Nah, use him as leverage to get the feds to back off on Texas via EPA, TSA, and a host of other TLAs, staying the death penalty permanently. Then, turn a blind eye while another prisoner shanks him.

Scheduled to be executed in 2 days, we’ll find out soon whether Texas has to follow “international law”.
BTW, in Texas, a pardon has to be recommended by the Board of Pardons and Paroles.

There is a legitimate issue here. Which way it should go is not something I know.
I think the execution should be stayed while the legalities are straightened out..except that gives Congress time to pass a law. If Perry has already sorted through those legal issues then execute the SOB.
But if Congress suddenly passes a law..what about the concept of a new law can’t effect old crimes...only crimes going forward

Great post! I'd appreciate a ping if you can find that ruling - so much crap is going down in the form of treaties, it would be invaluable to be able to cite it.
What happens if Congress passes a law that says States have to abide by the treaty??? Is that unconstitutional?
