Official Calls For Riverside, 12 Other Counties To Secede From California Link to Article and Poll
New state would have no term limits, part-time legislature
July 1, 2011 10:24 AM
RIVERSIDE (CBS) Is the state of California about to go South?
Riverside County Supervisor Jeff Stone apparently thinks so, after proposing that the county lead a campaign for as many as 13 Southern California counties to secede from the state.
Stone said in a statement late Thursday that Riverside, Imperial, San Diego, Orange, San Bernardino, Kings, Kern, Fresno, Tulare, Inyo, Madera, Mariposa and Mono counties should form the new state of South California.
The creation of the new state would allow officials to focus on securing borders, balancing budgets, improving schools and creating a vibrant economy, he said.
Our taxes are too high, our schools dont educate our children well enough, unions and other special interests have more clout in the Legislature than the general public, Stone said in his statement.
He unveiled his proposal on the day Gov. Jerry Brown signed budget legislation that will divert about $14 million in 2011-12 vehicle license fee revenue from four new Riverside County cities.
Officials fear the cut will cripple the new cities of Eastvale, Jurupa Valley, Menifee and Wildomar.
Stone said he would present his proposal to the Board of Supervisors July 12.
The new state would have no term limits, only a part-time legislature and limits on property taxes.
Wow...look at the poll results!!
I love this idea!
I’d love to see NYC become the 51st state. Well, Obama would think it’d be the 61st but whatever....
Los Angeles gets 70% of its water from the High Sierra in Inyo and Mono counties.
Our taxes are too high, our schools donât educate our children well enough, unions and other special interests have more clout in the Legislature than the general public
If this happens I’ll stay in California.
It’s the only way to salvage at least part of California.
The north is proof of what happens when liberals and the DNC has a total lock on culture, economics and schools.
I am a native, born here in Sacto in 57.
Calif in its current configuration is beyond repair.
I can vision him ordering a top hat and waistcoat now.

we always discuss secession but is there a mechanism for “expulsion”. I would find this a much better solution to our dilemma if we could just expel most of New England and California from the United States.
Perhaps Quebec and Newfoundland could form a country with NY, MA, CT and we could bring on British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and maybe Ontario although we could give Ontario Detroit and Madison and be way ahead if they would then form with the New NE cesspool. They could all speak French and Ebonics.
Give California to Mexico since it is almost there anyway. They could speak Ebmexasianlish.
So the new state really WOULD be Mexifornia?
Even if it were possible, I hardly see this as a good idea.
The illegals run Kalifornia now, souther Kalifornia in particular.
Adding two more agents of Mexico to the U.S. Senate hardly seems like a good idea, how many congressmen would they get?
There may be conservative enclaves in So. Kali, but this will not increase their power.
Any attempt to resist the illegal alien takeover is likely to be met with arrest as a “hate crime” and condemnation by the press at the least.
“Control the border”, who is he kidding?
If I recall correctly, Kentucky also split off from Virginia...
the people in the south demand those in the north continue to work for their tax benefits
What would stop Sacramento from wanting to lose a bunch of working middle class conservatives?
If they fight for us , its solid proof they rely on us for funding their vote buys.
Baja Arizona (http://www.economist.com/node/18486323)?
The north fighting our departure shall show how wrong your statement is.
Address change ~~ping~~
I think south central-south east Illinois has a better reason
When Republicans are next in power then that would be the ideal time for a large state, or group of states, to secede.
There would be bloodshed if it was done when demos are in power.
This will happen sometime in the next 50 years no matter what. The country is in a downward socialistic spiral. People will demand a place to escape to.
The states that secede could agree to pay their share of the national debt over a period of say 50-100 years in US dollars. The agreement would need to state that the dollar could not be re-valued but must stay as is. This would force the remaining rump nation to at least attempt to control inflation because the money due would float up or down in value with the worth of the dollar :-)
The new nation would thrive, the old nation would soon collapse and state after state would petition to join the new free nation. The old nation would eventually print money like Weimar Germany and the value of the dollar would drop to a tiny fraction of what it is now. The new nation would then sell a little gold and pay off their debt with tons of worthless dollar notes :-)
Yes, I know it won’t happen...what I fear will happen is some sort of civil war...very bad business that.
The bigger problem is soon the Dems and their lowlife would, like they do everywhere else, follow. They can’t support themselves, can’t run a business community or manage their own affairs, so like the welfare leeches, here they’d come.
Politics as usual 10.74%
Time to split 89.26%
I would personally like to see a line drawn across Florida above Orlando forming South Florida. The rest of us would be in authentic Florida.
