All the buffet places in Tucson are suffering. The Home Town Buffet just down the street from the dead Golden Coral is contemplating closure, it all depends on how much “new” business they get from the closing of GC. And with good reason, frankly these buffet places are a rip off unless you pig out. For the same price as lunch at GC that consists of hot plate mediocrity that mostly tastes like salt I can get a really good burger and fries at the bar and grill down the street. Half the places in town give you better food for the same price. If you’re a 3 or 4 plate person the buffets make some sense, but even when I was fat I couldn’t pack down enough of their food to make it worth the price.

Five years ago we ate there a lot.
Now, with the economy in the tank, it’s a ‘special’ dining out place. Our previous ‘special’ place was Red Lobster and some local fancy places, but money is tight....................I hope it doesn’t get to the point where our ‘special’ place is some McBurger joint..............
