Beck and his family would have been fine at an outdoor rap concert. They would have been fine at a sporting event. They would have been fine at any paid event, mostly because people who work for the government and live in rent-controlled apartments would be too cheap to attend.

Nah, they would have been fine because at a paid event people are there to get their moneys worth from the event.

You try to start a rumpus at a paid event and the people around you will not join in, they will sit on you. And some of those boys never met a meal they didn't like. But at a free event who cares if it is spoiled? You didn't lose anything, it was free! Excellent article from Annie! After reading it, I was so angry about the way a person can be treated by others who hate what they stand for. I was riled up and ready to stand up to anyone who dared try the same thing to someone I knew or any person who is treated wrongly, then I read Beck's account of the incident. Instead of wishing harm on the idiots or wishing he had kicked their a$$, he said hate never solved anything and that love was the only way to really answer this kind of behavior. Now, I don't think he meant we shouldn't defend against someone physically attacking us or our loved ones or even a stranger in trouble, but we need to be the ones who stand up to insult by returning it with love.

Fire doesn't put out fire, it takes water. And love is water on the hot fire of hate. Jesus said,"turn the other cheek", and it was and is the only right response to insults. Heck, I know it's hard in the heat of the moment but we need to show those misinformed haters that there is another way and we are not like them at all. We don't answer evil for evil. We MUST be above that or we will never defeat it. He did the right thing by letting it go and he showed those who hated him that he was not influenced by them and their childish acts. He was the grown-up that night. Maybe one day that child in a woman's body will be, too
