Interesting map, showing what each state charges in taxes for gasoline, per gallon....
(Excerpt) Read more at ritholtz.com ...
New york and mass, are even higher... good liberal states
Here in California we pay SALES TAX on the State and Fed TAX.
If Texas has among the lowest gas taxes, why are we still paying around $3.40/gal. when Toledo, OH is selling it for $2.95/gal....and TX is an oil state? Something is rotten in TX.
3rd lowest. CO and AK are lower.
I haven’t seen in Chicago, but in Calumet City and on the tollway it was around $3.98. Around $3.52 at one station in NW Indiana, but in the $3.70 range elsewhere.
Many of those states also have toll roads.
While at the gym once I witnessed what could only have been a caltrans work crew - one person running on a treadmill with five people standing around her watching.
It looks like Wyoming is doing OK. $1.45 today for regular.
That's 70 cents per gallon, not 70%.
“......So South Carolina and Virginia got our food dollars as well as our gas tax dollars. North Carolina GOT OUR URINE.....”
Gives whole new meaning to “TRICKLE DOWN” economics, don’t it???
Makes me proud to live in NJ. /s/ I know, then why don’t I just move? I would but my wife likes our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. What’s a guy to do?
There are obviously many exceptions to this. Connecticut is a good example; it's an unusual case because a major fuel tax hike was tied to the removal of the tolls on the Connecticut Turnpike (I-95) some years ago.
High gasoline tax is not the only reason to be getting out of most of those "red" states.
Parts of Ohio often have some of the lowest fuel prices in the country. I’ve often wondered if it was based on close proximity to the major refineries that produce the fuel they use.
South Carolina looks pretty good. Most Southerners are nice are long you don’t come off as some carpetbagger trying to run their lives.
And SC has real fireworks!
Wow, I will be traveling from Colorado to Indiana the next several days ! Cannot believe Indiana is 62 cents. I will be in Evansville and may conveniently drop into KY to fill up the tank and fill up before I cross from MO into IL.
In Evansville, I can drop right across the border into KY across from Ellis Park. In fact I know a gentleman who works at the place who use to work at the Shell Station across from the UE campus back in the day !
“...And SC has real fireworks!...”
Yep, so this week especially, many NC dollars will go to SC for low tax gas and high quality fireworks. Thank you NC Democrats for 100 plus years of idiotic rule.
Pardon me. that should have read as long as you
That is Wyoming not Colorado.
