Your going to be crammed into that Government Motors Chevy Volt whether you like it or not! Which is a good reason the government shouldn’t be in the automotive business...

A leader should always lead. I think Obama should make those gas-guzzling monstrosities that he rides around in, at our expense, be the first.

By 2025, no one will care what Barack Obama thinks about anything. This is just election-year posturing. Al Gore raked him over the coals the other day for not having done squat about Global Warming, so here he comes now with what he intends to do in 2025. There must be people stupid enough to fall for this, but hopefully not many. |

"The Obama administration is telling American automakers that it would like cars and light trucks to average 56.2 miles per gallon by 2025." I'd like obama flash mob members to be kiiled by 2011.

The ruling class feels very comfortable imposing laws on the peasants that will not affect them.
That won't last much longer. Redistribution of discomfort is on the agenda.

stupid people settling at 56 mph, they should have demanded 200 mpg
To: ButThreeLeftsDo
I think an average 56 mpg is doable if he can get Congress to repeal the Law of Gravity.

Worse case Obama is gone 2019 six years before this. 56.2 MPG is a toy car for GI Joe and Barbie.

To accomplish this the Obama administration will have to issue an Executive Order repealing the laws of physics.

House Wants Cars to Average 56.2 MPG by 2025Gosh why not 100 MPG? or 1000? There is only two ways to get to 56.2 MPG: smaller lighter cars, that are more aerodynamic. I was an Automotive Engineer for 20years and all the low hanging fruit as been picked in terms of increasing MPG. Maybe they will change the rules again and not count certain types of trucks (light trucks) and SUV's or Cross-overs.

56.2 mpg, not 56.1 or 49.8??
Besides the fact that liberals have no knowledge of “significant digits”, they really should stay far away from any kind of science.
Just stick to things they can comprehend like “Dick and Jane” books, the “View” on tv, or simple tools like a wedge.

The federal government is now so powerful as to be able to literally mandate by decree virtually everything in our lives. It's not just automobile fuel efficiency standards, it's everything. Your deodorant, sofa cushions, the monitor you're staring at. Everything.
