Rep. Michele Bachmann kicked off her presidential campaign on Monday in Waterloo, Iowa, and in one interview surrounding the official event she promised to mimic the spirit of Waterloo's own John Wayne.
The only problem, as one eagle-eyed reader notes: Waterloo's John Wayne was not the beloved movie star, but rather John Wayne Gacy, the serial killer.
Mrs. Bachmann grew up in Waterloo, and used the town as the backdrop for her campaign announcement, where she told Fox News: "Well what I want them to know is just like, John Wayne was from Waterloo, Iowa. That's the kind of spirit that I have, too."
(Someone has already posted the clip to YouTube under the name BachmannLovesGacy) John Wayne, the movie legend, is in fact from Iowa and the John Wayne birthplace is a celebrated landmark — only it's in Winterset, which is a nearly three hour drive away from Waterloo. Gacy, though, had his first taste of the criminal life in Waterloo, where he lived for a short time, and where he had his first criminal conviction for an attempted homosexual assault, which landed him in prison for 18 months. He would move back to Illinois, where his killing spree started, and lasted about six years. In 1980 he was convicted on 33 counts of murder, and was executed in 1994.

Full Disclosure: IF Bachmann can survive this gaffe, she should fire Rollins IMMEDIATELY, and then "turn citizens' evidence" against whatever backroom flunkies promised her to moon in order to undercut Sarah on behalf of Romney.
The is the 2 1/2th strike against her in my book.

Bottom line, she either lied purposefully or she really is a flake. So which type of person is best to lead the country?

She refuses to accept Wallace's apology for inferring she was a flake and then she does THIS!
Wallace can destroy her by withdrawing his apology and saying that he reconsidered and maybe she is a flake after all.
This kind of idiotic mistake is a campaign killer.
The MSM murdered Palin in 2008. Bachmann's wounds are all self inflicted.
She should have accepted the apology when she was given the opportunity. It was the high road and she chose the low road.
Now what can she say? The MSM is going to have a field day with this.

The nature of the PDSer
In a time not so very long ago, a man of logic, reason and rationality, upset by the injustice of the mindless and their baseless attacks upon his candidate of choice, did undertake a quest to discover the nature of the PDS’er.
And so did the man travel to the far corners of the Earth, for in his travels he could find no wisdom, nor wise man, to satisfactorily explain the root cause of Palin Derangement Syndrome, nor it’s effect on those so smitten. It was not until a chance encounter with a Zen Master high atop a remote mountain in Tibet that our hero found his answer.
“To discover the nature of the PDS’er,” said the Zen Master, One must understand the logic of why the sky is yellow.”
Confused by the sage words of the old wise man, our hero listened intently as the knowledge of the ages sprung forth from his old and weathered lips...
“To discover the nature of the PDS’er, One must understand the fact that dogs meow and cats bark at passing cars.”
“To discover the nature of the PDS’er, One must understand the reason why the sun shines brightly in the night sky.”
For what seemed like hours the Zen Master spoke thusly until finally our hero looked upon him and said “Master, dogs do not meow, nor cats bark. The sky is not yellow but blue and the sun shines in it by day, not by night. To spout such nonsense is neither logical, nor rational, nor factual. In fact, you’d have to be nuts to believe any of that!”
And so did our hero gain enlightenment into the nature of the PDS’er.
I'm with you. I've been saying for a while now, that the race for 2012 has started too early, and that what we're now witnessing is something like a demolition derby. Sarah is smart bide her time, while letting the rest of the field smash each other to bits.
