I fear this scenario. BAchman is beating Romney, then Palin or Perry step in splitting the conservative vote and Romney gets the nod.

Nope! Only one of those 3 will get the majority of the conservative vote if they run at the same time and like Rush said, if Palin gets in then she will be the one to beat, she already has a built-in base that is itching to go and support her and within days her coffers will be overflowing, that’s a fact.

A very good point. I think that if Bachman is doing very well and has the right message, Sarah won't jump into the fray. Perry though... I don't know exactly who I'd pick in a matchup between those two. I know Perry has baggage, but as a sitting governor with loads of executive experience under his belt, and that ominous 1880 barrier date hanging over Bachman, it's a tossup. Of course after the disaster in 2008, all "odds" are in the wind anyway. But we can't afford to be wrong. Not this time. We can't afford to let either Romney or Obama win. Both a sure recipe for destruction.

And then the Palin or Perry supporters have to explain how we shouldn’t believe our lyin’ eyes.

This field is far from set in stone. By my count, there are 6 additional names being floated as potential candidates. The last Gallup poll I saw (and you know polls are very popular here) reflected over 50% of registered Republicans were not satisfied with the current field of candidates.

I wouldn't be too concerned about splitting a vote until the end of this summer when we know who all the players are.

Romney will never be President of the U.S., let alone the GOP Nom.

It would depend if the other two had egos bigger than their concern for the country. IMHO Bachman is first and she has my loyalty.

Yeah me too. I fear more Perry stepping in. Perry is no conservative. Would a conservative support Al Gore in 99? No.
So Perry is Rino and Palin is not doing much to run. So that is the present situation.
