Rep. Michele Bachmann, stressing her Iowa roots and appealing directly to Tea Party voters, came out swinging Monday as she formally launched her campaign for president.
Buoyed by a strong showing in several recent polls, the Minnesota congresswoman cast her campaign as the voice for "constitutional conservatives" looking for a government that lives within its means while giving the private sector the room to grow. She launched a broadside against President Obama for racking up too much debt while stimulating too little job growth and vowed to make him a "one-term president."
"We cannot afford four more years of Barack Obama," she declared, later adding: "We can win in 2012 and we will win."
In her announcement, Bachmann described a special bond with Iowa, the nation's leadoff caucus state. She held the kickoff in her hometown of Waterloo, Iowa, and called herself a "descendent of generations of Iowans," saying the state is where she learned "everything I needed to know." She also appealed to another vital primary constituency, calling herself part of the Tea Party movement and defending it as a cross-section of Republicans, independents and disaffected Democrats.

She is playing around so she can be Perry’s VP or whoever wins the nomination. If she does announce she will get a small bump then slide down quickly, like Bachmann will when Perry throws his hat in. I don’t like it but it is the GOP reality.
I am damned proud of Bachmann and Palin (The ones that hate on Bachmann and blame her for Palin’s failures all need to be told to put the kool aid down they are drunk) but the only person that will be riding over a hill sadly, will be Perry.
Those emotionally invested in either candidate need to be prepared to support the other, IMO. I find the attacks, particularly against Bachmann (but a few against Palin as well) to be rather disturbing at this point in the game.
Only 200 people?
Sarah got 20,000 in many PA venues with only a few days notice.
Really, GOP—how dumb can you be?
Bachmann is NOT presidential material.
It is strange. I really think she is releasing her movie to set the record straight but it sure does not look like she is running. Was the bus tour just to promote books? to remind she is ready for VP?
However the government has the power to export jobs in free trade deals. Reversing those deals would be a great start in producing restoring jobs.
Case in point...
Romney will never be President of the U.S., let alone the GOP Nom.
Compare her crowd to the one around Palin tomorrow.
Cheers!
Concur.
Well done! Consider yourself commended.
Cheers!
It would depend if the other two had egos bigger than their concern for the country. IMHO Bachman is first and she has my loyalty.
Canada, with its conservative majority is beginning to ap[peal to me, but its too late in my life.

Can you spell McCain?
Great news! It speaks very well of Bachmann that she loves her country enough to run for president. Sorry I can’t say the same for a number of loudmouths (not mentioning any names!) who ramble about what great patriots they are, but won’t run for president because they wouldn’t make as much money that way.
Amen. Can’t believe the bashing that goes on here against the conservative candidates. Like you, I just want Obama out of there! Hopefully we will be able to unite behind one person. As a side note, I would tell Michelle’s stylists to tone it down alittle. Yesterday on Face the Nation I thought the false eyelashes and manicure were overdone. She’s a beautiful, smart woman on her own.
AMEN! That has to be and remain the #1 goal, otherwise I fear we won't have a country to worry about 2016 elections (and I'm not kidding, either).
We couldn't afford the first two.
