Who needs Congressional authority when you can govern by executive fiat?
A new enforcement memo handed down by the director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement last week has some accusing the White House of running around Congress to implement the DREAM Act and consequent amnesty for some illegal immigrants by executive fiat. The new memo, penned by ICE Director John Morton, directs ICE agents, attorneys and directors to exercise prosecutorial discretion meaning less likelihood of deportation for illegal aliens who have been students in the U.S., who have been in the country since childhood or who have served in the American military. LINKMortons excuse for the memonot enough resources:
Specifically, the memo argues, Because the agency is confronted with more violations than its resources can address, the agency must regularly exercise prosecutorial discretion.Syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer calls this maneuver a Constitutional breech pointing out that it is Congresss responsibility to enact laws:

Executive Order by any other name a Dictatorship.
So what happens if they choose not to deport?
Do they give them papers to make them legal?
Yes, it makes them able to stay here but are they able to get papers and work toward citizenship? There is so much missing from this story.
Argh....Grrrrrrrrrr. >:-(
Impeach! Impeach! Now!
Yeah, me too. Arrrrr...........
We are lucky they let Americans live, for the moment.
Seriously, Congress must impeach or resign NOW.
Maybe this is a “real” article?
I doubt they will though. And that makes me even more mad. There are few politicians today who have the guts or the desire to challenge stuff like this, and often times those who do never carry through to the end and are satisfied with compromises that usually favor the libs.
And she meant "we", too.
What we do is ask Speaker Boener to reduce the funding to the Immigration and Naturalization Service consumate with this reduction in their responsibility... Don’t do the work to protect the status of US citizenship... Then get dont get the funding that such an effort requires and get rid of the people who no longer have work to do.
Obama appears to dislike the United States bookmark.
I fully agree with honorable service in the military as a path to citzenship. Here since childhood, on a limited basis, depending on the behavior and progress of the individual. (Has he become, in effect, an American? Has he been self-supporting and tax paying?) But overstaying a student visa? No.
