Rick Perry may just be the guy. The country's longest tenured governor, from its second-largest state, is generating a lot of buzz in conservative circles as he contemplates entering the wide open Republican presidential primary. There are plenty of reasons that Perry is an attractive option: he is a no-nonsense decision-maker with solid conservative credentials. A man who not only speaks about family values, but lives them, Perry's power to persuade voters to see things his way is proven -- battle-tested in a state known for independent-minded citizens.
But what serious political analysts on both sides of the aisle will acknowledge as perhaps Perry's strongest attribute heading into 2012 is the stark contrast that would be evident in a potential Perry-Obama showdown. While Republican front-runner Mitt Romney capitulates to the left on global warming, refuses to sign a pro-life pledge, and ridiculously defends the RomneyCare failure in Massachusetts, the media is working overtime to tout their choice, former Utah Governor and Obama administration official Jon Huntsman, as the Republicans' best hope. What nonsense.
While Huntsman or Romney might please the same Republican establishment that brought us the mesmerizing campaigns of John McCain and Bob Dole, the best thing for the Republican Party -- and the country -- is for there to be a sharp distinction between the two parties' nominees. If there were any question about whether Rick Perry would provide a clear alternative to Obama, look only to the left's reaction to Perry's recent speech at the Republican Leadership Conference.
Following his remarks (which, though well-prepared and delivered, were nothing outside mainstream conservative thought), MSNBC's liberal commentator Mika Brzezinski proclaimed that she "felt like an alien" watching the speech.......I found myself applauding Mika's refreshing candor about the perspective of the American left.

Perry is ready to surrender sovereignty for the Trans Texas Corridor, he makes only static noise about the border and he thinks schoolgirls are perfect guinea pigs for drug makers.

I think Perry would be much more formidable than say Mitt, Huntsman, Newt or the other RINOs.
While being a bit of a rube he at least is a conservative.

His "Open-Borders" policies, catering to the big employers who pay for his political campaigns (construction, homebuilding, and poultry packagers like Bo Pilgrim and the Tysons), mirror the policies that California agricultural interests foisted on their state, causing the state's effective loss to the Aztlanists and the eclipse of the Republican Party in California.

Loss of control of Texas, and eventually the politics of the nation, to bloc-voting Mexican hordes led by irridentist politicians whose ideas of leadership were molded by Santa Anna and Pancho Villa, would be an absolute disaster to the folks we used lightly to call the People of the United States.
Perry's observed Texas OBL politics to date, if elevated to national office, would prolong the open-borders policies of George W. Bush and Barack Obama and result in both reproletarization of the American people and, eventually, civil war.
You won't be laughing when you realize that "bracero-to-votero" shamnesty now embraced by Perry (and others) will guarantee that the next dozen Presidents will be left-wing Democrats.
For one I have to question his core values. This week he vetoed a law making texting while drive illegal calling such a law government intrusion. Yet several years ago he was hell bent to shoot up every sub-teen girl in Texas with Gardasil.
For long watching Texans we've noticed how "conservative" he gets around an election and just as soon as it's over, well, he's that dim that supported Al Gore.
Too bad the RINO Perry does not respect
1) Americans who want CLOSED borders
and
2) Americans who do not want Gardasil and other
BIG PHARMA medicines FORCED on them for no reason
but money for politicians like RINO Perry.

I am not saying he is the perfect candidate, or any of the current pool of candidates is, but Texas u nder his administration created more Jobs than the other 49 states combined.
I live in Tennessee and a lot of people here are excited about Perry getting into this race. They see him as a more formidable voice for conservative principles.
Things are well here. Politics in/on Taiwan is a bit...different...to say the least. There is very little "worry" about an invasion by the mainlanders(CCP/PRC/PLA). Its a concern for a lot of the military - but thats about it.
My take on the lack of obvious concern is twofold:
If you live with something long enough it eventually assumes a lower status on your 'worry list.'
Everyone likes to have their relatives come for a visit. (this is only partly a joke here)
