Pulitzer Prize-winning author Alice Walker will join the flotilla of ships next week that will try to break Israel’s maritime blockade of the Gaza Strip. She says the goal is to bring supplies and raise awareness of the situation there. Last May, during a similar attempt by activists, Israel raided six ships. On one, clashes broke out and Israeli commandos killed nine people. (snip) AW: I think Israel is the greatest terrorist in that part of the world. And I think in general, the United States and Israel are great terrorist organizations themselves.

I read the novel and saw the movie. The movie was OK, but the book was like shoveling manure into your eyes.
Personally, I think Alice Walker’s writing is a terror. I wouldn’t spit on her if she were on fire.
Ah yes. Brings back memories. Whoopi and Oprah were acclaimed for their roles in that movie.
I’m sure it was a labor of love for Oprah to be in that movie, since Oprah isn’t really an actress. I’m sure she thought it was a powerful social/political statement to perform in that movie.

The reason it was so bad is the heavy gutter language dialect. I can listen to that dialect and at least understand what they’re saying, even if it is an affront to the ears. But to sit and read a book where everyone talks like Ol’ Man Snoop Dog River is disgusting to my eyes.
