Freshly minted presidential candidate Jon Huntsman revealed his strategy for snagging the Republican nomination in an interview with the Politico website, published this morning. This strategy will not involve Republicans. Huntsman wants your nomination, guys, but he finds you kind of embarrassing, and knows youre not going to like the useless moderate pabulum hes selling.
Instead, hes going to grab that nomination by appealing to non-Republicans who can vote in open Republican primaries. Kasie Hunt of Politico explains that Huntsman made clear that he plans to capitalize on election rules in New Hampshire and South Carolina that allow independent voters to cast ballots in the GOP presidential primary.
When you look at open primaries in both New Hampshire and South Carolina, I think its a wide-open affair, I really do, said Huntsman.
This strategy is supposed to help Huntsman overcome the baggage of his moderate positions on the environment, immigration, and civil unions, as well as his time as Barack Obamas ambassador to China. Being a conservative would have helped him get past working for Obama as an ambassador - which, after all, is not a domestic policy position. A conservative could spin that straw into gold by using his proximity to the Chinese Communists as a learning experience to illuminate his defense of liberty and capitalism, showing voters he understands how they are inextricably entwined.

Last Paragraph:
“Huntsmans chief strategist, John Weaver, apparently realized his candidates Politico interview was fatal, and desperately tried to walk it back by claiming the campaign intends to do well, in New Hampshire and South Carolina and Florida, among Republicans. Too late, Mr. Weaver. We just heard your candidate tell us how he plans to overwhelm us with independents and adventurous Democrats during the open primaries. We dont need to hear anything else.”
Then why not run in the Democrat primary?
Run as democrat schmuck.
Huntsman gives me the creeps.I think he is a Democrat posing as a R.
Given the current abysmal structure of the primary system, Conservative Republicans in New Hampshire and South Carolina are going to have to rally around a great candidate, say Michelle Bachmann or Sarah Palin (if she runs), to counteract and beat all the Independent and Democrat spoiler votes.
Huntsman reminds me of Obama in 2007 - in that he has no real experience or record to run on - yet the MSM chooses to take him seriously, so we are all expected to take him seriously as well.
By all means, lets vote for yet another cynical RINO hack for POTUS.
Here’s a fun prediction:
Palin ends up winning in a three way race with 43% of the vote. Beltway R’s will either run a Huntsman type or support a 3rd party Independent run by the same. He ends up siphoning votes away from Obama and Conservatives show up in droves for Palin.
The 43% number would be especially delicious irony if I remember Clinton’s winning percentage correctly.
:)
Well at least he may take the Liberal votes away from Romney
The early, open primaries (NH and SC) mess things up for conservatives in a big way. .....which is just the way the GOP establishment likes it.
The only thing Huntsman has going for him is that his Daddy is a Billionaire which is where he got his money. Other than that, he is wasting his time.
Huntsman is the willing accomplice Republican spoiler candidate of the Obama people, the Media people, and the Republican elite people.
You do.
There’s one good thing about Huntsman - he splits the Romney vote.
Did you catch him on Hannity the other day?
He said Obama is a good, family man- just like McLame!

Jon Huntsman praised President Obama as a remarkable leader

WTH??? Who does this idiot think is going to vote for him?
This S.O.B. must work for Obama! Rove is probably his political strategist. Screw any candidate that has roots in Utah!
ANYBODY can throw their name in the ring as a Republican “contender”.
Whether they get support from other Republicans is another matter altogether.
May we start the chant “No more McCains!!!”?
