Jon Huntsman wants you to know he rides a dirt bike. On real dirt! He's Salt of the Earth. Grease of the Garage. Dragster on the Dunes. Huntsman's runnin' and gunnin' for president. But underneath the Steve McQueen costumery, this made-for-cable-TV Moderate Speed Racer is a creaky old John McCain on Wheels.
The former Utah Republican governor and Obama ambassador to China is the answer to an election-year problem that doesn't exist. The quadrennial "problem," in the minds of Beltway GOP strategists and liberal media chin-pullers, is that the Republican Party isn't moderate, civil, self-critical or inclusive enough.
Huntsman is the latest no-labels flavor of the month, a straw man of the same people who have spent the past year smearing entitlement reformers as senior citizen-killers, budget hawks as Hitler's spawn, border-security activists as racists, and leading GOP women as sluts, nuts and bimbos.
Just like the failed 2008 GOP contender whose consultants are now fueling the Huntsman bid, McCain 2.0 is a big-spending accommodationist more in tune with the Democratic elite than with the conservative rank-and-file. In the shadow of the Statue of Liberty on Tuesday, Huntsman assailed the current economic crisis overseen by the Obama administration as "totally unacceptable" and "totally un-American." Yet, Huntsman retains nothing but "respect" for his former boss in the White House and laments the loss of "civility" wrought by "corrosive" political debates.
This is all you need to know about the manufacturing of the Huntsman candidacy: Swooning reporters far outnumbered supporters at the kickoff in Liberty Park and at a follow-up rally in New Hampshire. CNN's enamored anchor Wolf Blitzer gushed: "Here's what I especially liked about Jon Huntsman's presidential announcement in front of the Statue of Liberty. He called for some civility in the race for the White House. Unlike several of the other Republican candidates, he did not open with a blistering assault on President Obama."
Yeah. Who do all those uncivil Republicans running against Obama think they are -- opposing the opposition with oppositional rhetoric? Heaven forfend.
He's a stalking horse for Palin to split the goodhair Mormon RINO vote.
(ducking)
The idea is that if Obama loses to Huntsman, Obama’s handlers still win.
I think McCain is significantly to the right of Huntsman, actually....
Huntsman’s wikipedia entry sports a professional looking layout with flattering wholesome photos, is locked out from outside editing or corrections, and makes him out to be the bestist, coolist, most patriotic “Merican to have ever served in elected office.
On Obama’s team and endorsed by Harry Reid.
You don’t get more solid conservative credentials than that.
Speaking of rich, what Huntsman and McCain have in common is that neither had anything to do with their wealth. Huntsman inherited, McCain married it.
Two clueless self righteous smug ba$tard$.
McCain tells voters: We have nothing to fear with Barack Obama in the White House (2008 FLASHBACK)

John McCain is in more hot water after appearing to concede he could lose the US presidential election by telling voters they have nothing to fear with Barack Obama in the White House.
The extraordinary gaffe comes just three weeks before Election Day with the Republican candidate trailing badly in the polls.
Now Republican aides fear he may have further damaged his chances by accepting the possibility that he could be defeated.
(snip)
Mr. McCain made his remark while appealing for calm on the campaign trail amid fears that angry outbursts from supporters were raging out of control.
After a particularly fired-up rally in Minnesota, Mr McCain was booed when he tried to soothe the crowd, defending Mr. Obama as “a decent person and a person you do not have to be scared of as president of the United States.”
Theoretically, Huntsman and Romney should sink each other, but then there are uninformed Republican primary voters who may fall for anything.
“Huntsman is the RAT stalking horse.”
I would change that to the RINORAT stalking horse. He’s a combo of George, John and Ringo. What more do I need to know.
I don’t watch news but my grandson had it on some channel showing him and then his family.
My first thought...Its the Barbie family!
My second thought...This seems kind of sinister, the powers that be out there are pushing him on the people to compete against Sarah.
They’ve been desperately searching for a wholesome looking candidate who they can control because they know Obama can’t win again and they are know Sarah Palin will not dance to their tune.
——This is just a rich mans vanity campaign.-——
The question is who is the rich man and who is expressing vanity.
I would suggest it is his father. There is just so much room for executives in the business and Peter has the lock. Jon was shunted off to politics
The new Governor of Tennessee is just such a son as well
Well, one thing you are forgetting is our little Republican primary voters; some are grossly uninformed.
Oh great another consensus seeker. We need a Road Warrior not a consensus seeker. I draw the line at Huntsman.
Ouch.
I’ve been in data collection mode so far as far as trying to learn and understand what Huntsman is all about.
Sorry JH, if you lost Malkin that’s not a good start.
Not good. I’ll not blindly decide he’s such and such just because Malkin says so, but that’s a pretty big strike.
How many times must the RINO lose before we learn it's a fail?
Big opportunity number one for Huntsman:
Get together with Malkin. For real.
Explain your positions to her. All of them. If you win over Malkin, you’re gonna get half the tea party in one fell swoop.
Talk with Malkin, Huntsman. Get away from the beltway for a week. Get off the networks for a week. Talk with tea party people and just be honest.
Lots of people out here want something to listen to.
Just imho...
Did you catch him on Hinnity the other day?
He said Obama is a ‘good, family man’- just like McLame!

Who does this idiot think is going to vote for him?
Hinnity= Hannity
