PHILADELPHIA - The lights go out for Peter Parker, the high-school student whose bite from a radioactive spider turned him into the avenger who spins spiderwebs and climbs walls, a member of the Marvel Comics universe of heroes and villains.
The publisher announced today that Spider-Man will be defeated by one of his fiercest enemies in the final issue of Ultimate Comics Spider-Man, which will go out on sale tomorrow.
But the arachnid's fans do not have to be in mourning, since the Ultimates label is separate from Marvel's major universe. The fate of Ultimate Spider-Man will not affect The Amazing Spider-Man and other titles.
The death is dramatic but not unexpected. In November, Marvel stated that Ultimate Spider-Man would face an uncertain fate in Brian Michael Bendis' most recent series titled "The Death of Spider-Man" which features original illustrator Mark Begley.
Bendis told the Associated Press that, in the 160th issue, Parker fights bravely but dies heroically in a face-to-face battle. But against whom?
"He will die heroically, but will die at the hands of the Green Goblin," said Bendis, recalling his almost 11 years with the title which debuted in October 2000.
The death is real and always definite in Marvel's Ultimate Comics label. The characters in this universe go without ever returning. The list of deceased includes Magneto, Wasp, and Wolverine, among others.
Bendis said that Parker will not die in vain and insinuated that Ultimate Spider-Man might not have disappeared forever. But, for the time being, he is not willing to reveal what will come.

I know he’s dying on broadway, as we speak.
What?
To use Unix terminology, Spiderman doesn’t die, he forks off and spawns as a separate process.
Is he killed jumping a shark?
“Spider-Pig, Spider-Pig, does whatever a Spider-Pig does...”
I like that. It's a good analogy, though most people wouldn't get that either. You could also consider it like a virtual machine.
I actually liked the fork they did with the "Civil War" series, but generally, it's just a bogus way to make the suckers pay. How many concurrent universes do they run these days?
It also occurs to me that “fork off and spawn” is a lot kinder than the commonly used “F*** off and die!”

Absolute nonsense.
I’ve read Magneto “die” by decapitation, a blast from Cyclops into pIEces, took his heart out by Wolverine..and he keeps coming back.
Captain America “died” 3 years ago by assassination to the head, yet here he is alive in Avengers.
Marvel is FOS.
