Bristol Palin Reveals True Feelings About the McCains, 'Dancing With the Stars,
ABC NEWS ^ | June 21, 2011 | SHEILA MARIKAR

Posted on 06/21/2011 6:47:49 PM PDT by Hojczyk

In her memoir due out Friday, "Not Afraid of Life: My Journey So Far," the 20-year-old daughter of former Alaska governor/potential presidential candidate Sarah Palin reveals her true feelings about the father of her son, the daughter of her mother's 2008 running mate, and much more.

Palin writes that the first time she met the 26-year-old daughter of Sen. John McCain, she "ignored us during the entire visit." This was just before Senator McCain introduced Sarah Palin as his running mate. Palin adds that she "had a sneaking suspicion I might need to watch my back."

"Every time we saw Meghan, she seemed to be constantly checking us out, comparing my family to hers and complaining," she writes. "Oh the complaining."

Cindy McCain, the senator's wife, also rubbed the eldest Palin daughter the wrong way.

"I'd never seen people with so much Louis Vuitton luggage, so many cell phones, and so many constant helpers to do hair and makeup," Palin writes, adding that the would-be first lady looked "like a queen" and held "herself like royalty."

Palin writes that she was shocked when the senator's wife offered to be a godmother to her unborn baby: "I had just met her and I wondered why she wanted any type of guardianship over my child."

Palin also shares not-so-fond memories of her 2010 stint on "Dancing With the Stars," where she and her professional partner, Mark Ballas, finished in third place.

"I noticed some of the contestants rolled their eyes when they realized we'd survived to dance another day," she writes, adding that some of the contenders voted off "literally would not speak to us or acknowledge our presence."

OK, what could be the ulterior motive?

Being a godmother is not a formal position with any guardian responsibility or authority.

Actually, if McCain has an idea of how many of our votes were for Sarah and not for him at all, he’s even more upset. Good.

OK, your answer is helpful.

It simply wasn’t done within my family, for the reason you cite. “Recoil in horror” might be a bit strong. “Recoil in bewilderment” might be more like it.

I think that Bristol Palin’s “tell-all” book is unnecessarily trashy, regardless of the oafishly parvenu behavior of the McCains.

“Being a godmother is not a formal position with any guardian responsibility or authority.”

Read what Bristol actually wrote: “I wondered why she wanted ANY TYPE OF guardianship over my child.” Obviously Bristol didn’t think what you seem to think she was thinking.

Perhaps there are traditional expectations, but a godparent has no formal legal rights or responsibilities.

I found a wine (Merlot) from Argentina from the Mendoza area. OH, my goodness it is so good. Surprising enough it was at a local groceries, Ralph’s (King Super). I bought it because it was on sale, yea I am cheep. It was worth the $6.99.

I suspect this will sell like hotcakes among the crowd that lined up for Justin Bieber’s autobiography.

We are all guessing right now of course, but my guess is that the book will reflect Bristol's national efforts in support of conservative causes, and is geared to positively influence her young, female audience.

Levi Johnson is a d-—— bag.

Meghan McCain, like her father, is a seriously flawed individual.

Bristol Palin, her mother and her father deserved far better than Johnson, the McCains, or the vile media cynics who attacked them so pointlessly.

What happened to the Palins is a demonstration by the leftist media about how they have honed “borking” and “quayling” to a fine art.

Conservatives need to figure out how we can get our own media organs functioning to counter these people.

OK, given what you pointed out, I can understand Bristol’s reaction. I think it’s trashy to retell this awkward interaction in a public document. Forbearance is an underrated virtue.

Funny how you say what you really feel when you have had a drink or two.

Enjoy.

I like red wine because it is the only thing that elevates my arthritis issues. :-)

Haven't read Bristol's book so all we have is the brief review in the article.

The godfather/godmother thing probably did "bewilder" her a bit. I've always found it a rather alien concept, but the people into it all seem to think it's something you really need to do.

Think of it as one of those great cultural divides in this country that's simply invisible most of the time for most of the people.

You have never read the book, you have never read a review of the book, how can you with a straight face, describe the book as a ““tell-all” book “ and “unnecessarily trashy”?

Those ‘contestants’ that wouldn’t speak with her surely must know that most of the voting comes from the public. Right? I have to wait a day down here to get the video’s of the show.
