REPORT: ATF DIRECTOR EXPECTED TO RESIGN UNDER PRESSURE... DEVELOPING...
The fall guy has been chosen.
Hopefully only the first of many.
Note to Obama: Nice try. Won’t help.
I assume Holder’s job is safe.
Until January 2013....
Killed agents, attempted to subvert the constitution and so the sorta top guy must CHANGE JOBS..?!!
That sounds like some type of joke.
2 America’s —seperate and unequal.
He will take the fall for Holder and in return retain his pension. Same ole same ole.
And IIRC, the guy was never confirmed in the first place...?
Issas should haul this guy before the committee and force him to finger Holder.
May have been a sacrificial lamb from the get-go.
I’m assuming the ATF DIRECTOR is not one of ‘Holder’s people’ ...
Well, the guy who’d been running the ATF was never confirmed? I thought recess appointments were only good for a year? How long has this guy been running the ATF?
Let’s hope he does his job and does it well. I have my doubts.
It’s like having the mafia makes a visit to you and suggest you
mind your own business or else.
Washington (CNN) — Kenneth Melson, acting director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, is expected to resign under pressure, perhaps in the next day or two, in the wake of the ongoing controversy over Operation Fast and Furious, two senior federal law enforcement sources said Monday.
In the operation, straw buyers were allowed to illegally purchase large numbers of weapons, some of which ended up in the hands of cartels in Mexico.
Attorney General Eric Holder will meet Tuesday with Andrew Traver, head of the ATF field office in Chicago, about potentially serving as acting director of the agency, according to the sources.
The Justice Department refused comment.
The operation has come under intense criticism since the December killing of a U.S. Border Patrol officer.
Operation Fast and Furious was “a colossal failure of leadership,” Peter Forcelli, a supervisor at the bureau’s Phoenix field office, recently said.
The program focused on following people who legally bought weapons that were then transferred to criminals and destined for Mexico. But instead of intercepting the weapons when they switched hands, Operation Fast and Furious called for ATF agents to let the guns “walk” and wait for them to surface in Mexico, according to a report by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

The entire ATF from top to bottom should resign. Every single employee and jackboot.
They probably select one ahead for everything they do.
He'd better stay out of Fort Marcy Park, and avoid boating trips on the Potomac. And don't be the last one down to the parking garage tonight.
Head of ATF Is Likely to Go
The Justice Department is expected to oust the head of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, according to people familiar with the matter, amid a troubled federal antitrafficking operation that has grown into the agency’s biggest scandal in nearly two decades.
Moves toward the replacement of Kenneth Melson, acting ATF director since April 2009, could begin next week, although the precise sequence of events remains to be decided, these people said.
