Republican Senator John McCain today ripped into the current crop of GOP candidates, accusing them of breaking with the party's traditions by preaching 'isolationism.'
Mr McCain, the Republican candidate in the 2008 presidential elections, said if former President Ronald Reagan were still alive he would have been disappointed in last week's Republican presidential debate in which candidates voiced impatience with U.S. military efforts in Afghanistan, Iraq and now Libya.
Mr McCain told ABC's This Week: 'He would be saying: "That's not the Republican Party of the 20th century, and now the 21st century. That is not the Republican Party that has been willing to stand up for freedom for people for all over the world.'"

Great post, Ronnie.
Amen, brother.
No, John, Ronald Reagan would be disappointed in YOU!
Um Indylindy: Did your finger get stuck on the keys? :-)
I held up a sign outside a McCain rally in Georgia back in 2008 which said, “McCain Has Sold Us Out”. I have no regrets.
I’m amazed that McCain somehow thinks that he is relevant. If he hadn’t chosen Sarah Palin as his running mate, I think he would have lost by biblical proportions. Had he not been a fence sitter playing handsies with the left, they could have won simply because of her. He and Lindsey Graham are two peas in a pod, biggest RINOs of them all, and I for one will be glad when their species becomes extinct.
McCain should quit the Senate and run seances channeling the spirits of past Republican leaders. I am sure there is more money in it.
Could you repeat that, please?
I don't think that Ronald Reagan would agree with an idiot like John McCain that scaring the Hell out of a captured POW by waterboarding was torture. In my book torture leaves scars, disfigurement, pain, possible missing limbs or fingernails etc. Simply making an enemy afraid for his life without any lasting physical damage is not torture.

McCain is being remarkably candid about his progressivism with this comment.
Most people don’t realize the differences between left wing and right wing progressivism, and perhaps more than any other it’s the use of force internationally, and by whom.
McCain himself has stated lovingly, multiple times in different settings, that Teddy Roosevelt(another progressive) is his personal hero.
Teddy Roosevelt initiated what’s called the “Roosevelt Corollary”, which is nothing more than arrogant interventionism.
As opposed to right wing progressives like McCain and Roosevelt, who wish to see intervention be done by the United States; - the left wing progressives want it to be done by the UN, or NATO, or pick your favorite international entity.
That’s the difference. But either way it’s still big government. McCain is not one of us.
[nodding] He’s the Manchurian Candidate. He’s been brainwashed into being a communist plant in our government. It’s not really his fault, and he should be retired, but the vote counters in Arizona keep electing him.
Heh, well I definitely agree that he should retire, but I don’t know if he’s been brainwashed. If he has, I’m curious as to by whom he’s been brainwashed by. And when. He was loving up on Teddy during the 2000 election, IIRC.
He may have always been a progressive, but because he says the right things in a handful of areas, he can blend in better with constitutionalists.
Because progressivism seeks ultimate power via centralized planning, it’s a very seductive ideology.
He was a prisoner of the Chinese Communists for five years during which he was continually tortured. He admits that they broke him. He returned with political ambitions, and he campaigns as a Conservative and legislates as a marxist. He sends mixed messages as if he’s battling internal demons.
He should have been thanked for his service and retired with a nice pension when he returned. He should never have been even close to the reins of power in our country, nor should anyone who has gone through what he did, may God Bless and keep him.
I don’t know if he is a “Manchurian Candidate” or if he is just such an egotistical bastard that he actually believes that he (and others of his caste) have some sort of Divine Right to provide guidance to the unwashed masses (that would be us).
Whatever it is, I am tired — beyond tired — of him and all his aristocratic ilk. There is really not a dime’s bit of difference between McCain and Reid, although they like to pretend there is at election time.
-—————He admits that they broke him. He returned with political ambitions-—————
I must say you make a very good point there.
In his own words, who could argue?
-————He should have been thanked for his service and retired with a nice pension when he returned.——————
I agree.
As much as I disagree with progressives of all stripes, McCain remains a true hero who did put his life on the line for all of us. I’m capable of separating his heroism from his progressivism.
You’re right as rain. The elitist, entitled RINOs have been giving me fits for years. They veer hard right when they’re talking to their voters, and they settle their fat tushes right into the democrats’ den of evil after they’re re-elected. Again.
Lies and voter fraud are doing our country to death.
It’s all McCains wife fault. Too much pressure.
