Todays Republican-led congressional field hearing in North Charleston could feature some high-powered spectators from the other side of the aisle.
U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn of South Carolina and at least two other well-known Democratic lawmakers were spotted this morning arriving at Charleston International Airport around 10 a.m. from Washington, D.C.
Lafe Solomon, the chief attorney for the NLRB who has been summoned to testify in todays proceedings, also was seen getting off the same plane by a reporter from The Post and Courier who was boarding a flight.
Solomon has filed lawsuit against Boeing Co. over union discrimination, which is the topic of todays field hearing. He is seeking to move the companys new 787 assembly line from North Charleston to Washington state.
Clyburn has said he believes the NLRB suit is without merit. He was accompanied by U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich of Ohio and Eleanor Holmes Norton, the District of Columbias delegate to Congress.
Meanwhile, at the site of the hearing off Leeds Avenue, at least six TV crews and other media outlets were preparing to cover the proceedings, which begin at noon. They include Fox Business News and a Myrtle Beach station.
The AFL-CIO plans to blast the proceedings as a political stunt at an 11:30 a.m. press conference.
Gov. Nikki Haley is set to testify at 2:30 p.m.
Shocking that he isn't lining up behind his union bosses...
Maybe Clymer realizes that all politics is local.
Were they met with pitchforks and ropes?...................
Did they fly in on a Boeing?
It's one of the few good political stunts, which in this case is exposing an abuse of the judicial system.
As if the NLBR lawsuit wasn't a political stunt in the first place. It has no legal merit and won't withstand 5 minutes of judicial scrutiny.
NRLB= National Labor Relations Board
Correction:
NRLB=National Rabor Lelations Board
“He was accompanied by U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich “
What the heck is Dennis The Menace doing there? Is his wife with him? Any pics of his wife?
Kucinich is rumored to be contemplating a move to Washington State to continue his government gravy train. If Clyburn is truly supporting South Carolina against the unions, then Kucinich presence with him seems odd.
That’s good. Bet they did fly on a Boeing aircraft. Love to see a good Boeing execucitive show a picture of the marxists stepping off one of their products.
